What You Will Do:

 

As the Manager of Leave and Benefits, you will lead a team providing comprehensive support to L’Oréal employees across two key areas: leave of absence tracking, benefits inquiries. A critical component of this role is overseeing the administration of leave of absence programs. This includes direct supervision of the Leave Administration team. You will oversee daily operations for each function, ensuring service level agreements are met, driving process improvements, and developing high-performing teams. This role requires a strong understanding of HR operations, benefits administration, leave management best practices, a passion for delivering outstanding employee service, and proven leadership capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Team Leadership & Development: 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR Specialists, Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify development opportunities, and provide regular coaching and feedback to all direct reports.
  • Manage team workload and resource allocation to ensure appropriate coverage and seamless support across all functional areas.

Oversight of Benefits & Leave Admin team:

  • Oversee the management of the daily operations of the Benefits Administration space, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of employee inquiries across a broad range of topics including fleet management, fitness program enrollment, and health & welfare plan inquiries. 
  • Oversee the administration of all leave of absence programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, state and local leave laws). This includes managing leave requests, tracking leave balances, coordinating with employees and managers throughout the leave process, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as call resolution times, service levels, customer satisfaction, average handling time, and leave request processing times. Implement action plans for improvement as needed.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge base resources, including FAQs and guides related to benefits and leave policies, to empower employees with self-service options.
  • Identify trends and patterns in employee inquiries, to proactively address recurring issues, optimize service delivery, and recommend process improvements.

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee the daily administration of all employee benefits programs, including health & welfare, wellness programs, and other employee perks. Coordinate benefits continuation and other relevant processes during employee leaves of absence.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA).
  • Perform audits of benefit deductions loaded into Payroll and collaborate with Payroll Manager to fix discrepancies
  • Manage relationships with external benefits vendors and providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Resolve escalated benefits issues and provide guidance to employees on complex benefits-related questions.
  • Year-end administration to include YTD balance audits for GTL/HSA/etc. and stop deductions and start for new enrollment year.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement across all areas of responsibility, including leave of absence data, benefits utilization, and retirement plan participation.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and insights and present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in HR operations, with a focus on benefits administration, retirement plan management, and leave management.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing teams, including demonstrated success in developing and mentoring direct reports.
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations (e.g., ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA), and state and local leave laws.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with HR systems (e.g., Success Factors, Kronos) ) and data analysis tools.
  • Case management experience (e.g. Service Now, Salesforce)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Experience in the consumer goods or beauty industry.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/French) a plus.
