CMI: The Consumer & Market Intelligence Team (CMI) provides consumer and market information that facilitates management decision-making on broad strategic as well as tactical day-to-day marketing and business issues.
As a business partner, CMI leverages insights pertaining to the Consumer, Shopper, Digital, and Market to aid in category and brand strategies as well as Go-To-Market and In-Market strategies.
The types of custom research conducted includes market studies, consumer segmentations, attitude and usage studies, brand health tracking, advertising development and evaluation, concept testing, and qualitative research.
What You Will Do:
Overall, the Sr. Manager will work to:
- Lead the activation and local creation insight efforts for the Makeup category within the Luxe and CPD Divisions.
- Partner with multiple brands across both divisions to ensure optimal research plans / budgets are built and flawlessly executed, in partnership with métier AVP.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fully immerse in the business needs and situations within makeup brand teams, becoming a trusted ally and team member.
- Build agency relationships and maximize their operational output and potential, while bringing new innovative tools and methods to the Group.
- Disseminate and animate actionable insights designed to drive growth
- Budget management and project status tracking and reporting.
More insight areas the Sr. Manager will be responsible for include:
- Call-Back Studies
- Creative Testing
- Package and Shelf Testing
- Custom Survey Design, Qualitative, and Quantitative Methods
- Equity and Awareness Tracking
- Developing proficiency with proprietary consumer panels and tools (i.e. Nielsen, Talkwalker)
- Budget and expectations management along with agency resource management
Success will be driven by:
- Delivering strong consumer-driven insights to both core stakeholders (marketing) and broader cross-functional teams across the organization.
- Balancing daily project needs while delivering against meaningful strategic priorities.
- Building a strong network with core stakeholders and broader cross-functional teams to drive insight-led influence on business priorities and planning.
Interactions:
The Sr Manager will be responsible for cultivating close partnerships with:
- Marketing Operations leaders across the division.
- Domestic and Global CMI/Prospective teams
- Research and Innovation teams
- Category Development (CPD and Luxe)
- Outside vendors and agencies
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, in marketing preferably. MBA a plus.
- Requires 4-6 years of industry experience, through positions/ assignments in market research (whether custom or syndicated) or marketing.
- Industry background includes traditional CPG, beauty industry experience critical.
- The successful candidate will have the following key personal qualities: highly driven, results orientation; proactive and ‘make it happen’ attitude; team builder and strong listener/communicator (oral, written); ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; flexible and adaptable (willing to look at things in new, unique ways); strong planner, organizer, and with a demonstrated record of bringing ‘vision’ and ‘strategy’ to life.
- Solid track record of relationship management, problem solving, and influencing... as they will be working across many unique teams.
- Organized, structured, analytical and logical; strong problem-solving skill
- Passion for consumer insights and the beauty industry.
- Positive approach and transparent with projects/work/planning.
- Self-starter; can work autonomously to get things done.
- Eager to learn new industries, consumer targets, distribution channels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large, highly matrixed, enterprise with competing priorities across reams
- Experience in consumer goods or beauty
