Drive omni-channel business development (in-store and online) by providing expert makeup and skincare services. You will deliver personalized consultations, build strong client relationships, and embody the brand’s professional image and Japanese values of craftsmanship and hospitality.
Job Summary
As a Shu Uemura Makeup Artist, you will be a key ambassador of the brand, embodying our professional, avant-garde, and uniquely Tokyo aesthetic. Following the vision of our founder, you will champion the philosophy that "beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin." You will provide exceptional artistry services, expert product knowledge (specializing in our iconic cleansing oils and professional tools), and personalized consultations to create a premium, bespoke beauty experience for all clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Professional Makeup Artistry: Demonstrate advanced makeup techniques including the signature Shu Uemura "H9" eyebrow shaping, 3D face styling, and color matching. Stay at the forefront of Japanese and global beauty trends.
- The "Skin-Makeup" Connection: Expertly consult on skincare as the essential foundation for makeup, with a focus on Shu Uemura’s world-renowned cleansing oils and prep products.
- Omotenashi Service: Engage clients with the warmth and precision of Japanese hospitality (Omotenashi), ensuring a refined and personalized experience for every visitor.
- Sales Performance & Omni-channel Growth: Achieve and exceed individual and team sales targets. Actively drive the brand's omni-channel presence by encouraging online engagement and capturing client data for loyalty building.
- Event & Atelier Support: Represent Shu Uemura at various events, including in-store animations, artistry masterclasses, and promotional roadshows.
- Visual Merchandising & Atelier Standards: Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness at the counter, ensuring tools and testers are organized according to the brand’s professional "Atelier" guidelines.
- Training & Continuous Learning: Participate in ongoing training to master new artistry techniques, product innovations, and the storytelling of the brand’s Tokyo heritage.
Qualifications
- Professional makeup artistry certification or equivalent experience is required.
- Proven experience in makeup application and professional service, preferably within a luxury or professional beauty environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with a diverse Central Singapore clientele.
- A passion for Japanese craftsmanship and the ability to explain technical benefits of professional tools and formulas.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets through expert consultation and cross-selling (Skincare & Makeup).
- Ability to work flexible retail hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong alignment with the Shu Uemura professional brand image and artistic values.
