We are seeking a passionate and detail orientated Retail Store Design Manager to join the Aesop Store Development team. This is a full-time role operating with a hybrid working pattern, based across our offices in Collingwood and St Kilda Road.  

 

Reporting to our Retail Design & Development Lead, you will provide end to end support and guidance to Aesop store development in the ANZ region, through the high-level project management of new store openings as well as refurbishment and maintenance. 

 

This role supports with building genuine relationships with our suppliers, liaising with internal and global stakeholders, to ensure we continue to provide the impeccable delivery of our new spaces and refurbishments.

  

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Lead comprehensive project management for creative solutions across all retail store formats, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed architectural briefs and adopt a collaborative design approach, including developing practical small-scope solutions for retail and maintenance needs.
  • Conduct thorough site surveys, providing expert architectural and construction feedback to internal and external stakeholders across ANZ and globally.
  • Effectively manage relationships with all external consultants (e.g., lighting, engineers) and contractors, as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Apply strong financial acumen, including quantity surveying, budget forecasting, value engineering, and negotiating project tenders.
  • Orchestrate all necessary permitting, engineering, and external services for building and occupancy, ensuring strict compliance with lease agreements.
  • Implement robust quality assurance through factory and site visits, meticulous shop drawing review, and leading the defect rectification process post-completion.
  • Drive innovation by proactively sourcing samples and engaging in continuous research and trial for new materials and solutions.


ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to and passion for Aesop’s retail design environment, customer service, and teams, coupled with a solid understanding of the retail, design, and construction industries.
  • Possess significant experience in multi-project construction management within the retail, hospitality, or similar sectors.
  • Excellent written and clear communication skills, with a proactive approach to building lasting partnerships with local General Contractors.
  • Be highly autonomous, proactive, and efficient, demonstrating a strong drive for excellence and the capacity to work effectively under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • A decisive and practical thinker, capable of making considered and efficient decisions and adept at solving complex problems creatively.
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail, strong multitasking abilities, and the capacity to prioritise work and bring multiple creative solutions to fruition within expected timeframes.
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite and Excel, with experience in CAD software being a distinct advantage.
  • Hold a relevant academic background or qualification in Design or Architecture.
