OVERVIEW
The Quality Assurance Manager assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards; testing materials and product that assures proper adherence to company requirements and global standards.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategic Contribution:
- Drives the Quality Assurance agenda to support the manufacturing strategy for providing high quality products to customers.
- Functional Policies and Controls:
- Monitors the effectiveness of the Quality function establishing Quality Assurance and control programs, policies and procedures which ensure product integrity and compliance with group standards and specifications.
- Set up and maintain quality controls and documentation procedures.
Analytics:
- Responsible for product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Preparing and analyzing reports on design, pre-production, and production to check on the quality status of the product at all stages of production and inform the production team.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensuring all Finished Goods, Raw Material and Packaging Material lab testing is done as per L’Oreal methods and specifications in the following labs:
- Testing of cosmetics related products in Micro-biological lab
- Packaging material parameters testing in Physical lab
- Raw material testing - Chemical Lab
- Bulk testing or To be filled products testing in In-process testing lab
- Ensure the timely and accurate evaluations of raw materials, packaging components, manufactured batches, in process materials and finished products.
- Ensures production record documentation is accurate.
- Creating batch making records to guarantee quality from stage one.
- Recommends the acceptance or blocking of deliveries or production in accordance with L’Oréal specifications.
- Drive efficiency and implement quality as part of Operational excellence pillar.
- Works with production manager to understand the root causes of the problems in the operations.
- Coordinate with Unit Production to lead and monitor RTFT (Right the first time) for all local manufacturing.
- Formalizing methods of manufacturing for all new Fla’s (Formulas) to guarantee quality from stage one and getting it validated from Zone Quality team for processing.
- Lead raw material diversification/localization process in coordination with local purchasing team and zone quality team.
Quality Audits
- Responsible for leading all investigations or audits concerning product quality.
- Ensure supplier quality audits are conducted to gauge performance and share feedback for improvement.
- Ensure quarterly quality audits are happening of all critical processes and share feedback for improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Liaise with other managers and staff and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.
- Implementing improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality.
- Look at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency in production line.
- Measure performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements
- Utilizing extensive knowledge of the product's inner workings to diagnose problems.
- Continuing education on newly developing Quality Assurance techniques.
People Development:
- Supervises Quality engineers and Lab team in their day-to-day tasks. Provide recommendations to the Line Manager and Human Resources on hiring and promotions.
- Consistently promotes high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them.
- Setting individual objectives, conduct periodic performance reviews, providing feedback and appraisal to maximize subordinates and departmental performance.
KEY STAKEHOLDERS
- Internal: Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial and other departments within L’Oréal
- External: 3rd Party Manufacturing team, Suppliers, Auditors, Quality Assurance Institutes
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- BSc Engineering (any discipline)
Minimum Experience:
- 6- years of experience in Quality Assurance in FMCG/Process industry
- At least 3 years in managing role
- Extensive knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control systems and procedures, chemistry, biological sciences, statistics, managerial disciplines, Federal Regulations (cosmetic, drug, food).
