The Senior Data Engineer – Site Analytics and Reporting plays a critical role in building and maintaining L'Oréal Americas' data pipelines and infrastructure to support eCommerce and Content site analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This role requires deep technical expertise in data engineering principles, cloud technologies, and business intelligence tools. The Senior Data Engineer will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurately collected, transformed, and made accessible for reporting and analysis. This role will focus on data related to marketing performance, customer behavior, and other key marketing metrics. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using tools like dbt, leveraging cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS) to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources, including Google Analytics, marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, and other marketing data sources.
  • Data Modeling & Warehousing: Design and implement data models and schemas for the marketing data warehouse, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  • ETL Development: Develop and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to move data from source systems to the data warehouse, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Business Intelligence Tool Integration: Integrate data pipelines with business intelligence and visualization tools like Looker and Power BI, enabling self-service reporting and analysis for business users.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and queries, ensuring efficient data processing and reporting.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data quality checks and validation rules to ensure data accuracy and completeness. Contribute to data governance initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet their requirements.
  • Innovation & Research: Stay current on industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering, exploring new tools and techniques to improve data processing and analytics capabilities.

 

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on marketing analytics or business intelligence.
  • Strong experience with data pipeline development and orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow).
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling techniques.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) and their data services (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).
  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience with Google Analytics and other marketing data sources.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
