We are currently seeking a talented and innovative Assistant Vice President, Claims Substantiation Americas to join our Claims Substantiation Department located at our Clark, New Jersey facility for Research and Innovation. This role leads the Americas Claim Substantiation organization, responsible for developing and executing global strategies for beauty and medical products. This role ensures scientific validation of product claims and effective communication of benefits to consumers. The AVP manages claims substantiation teams in the U.S. and Brazil with strong collaboration with R&I, Marketing, and Legal departments. They also have responsibilities to leverage and coordinate claims capabilities in Canada and Mexico.
As an Assistant Vice President, Claims Substantiation Americas, your main responsibilities are:
- Develop the strategic vision of the Claims Substantiation department and implement action plans to improve interactions, service quality, and resource optimization.
- Manage, motivate, and inspire a team of highly skilled Claims professionals within the Americas Region, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Ensure the application and development of corporate guidance from Worldwide Claims Substantiation, including guidelines and processes.
- Liaise with the Legal Department on claims-related issues and partner with senior management to provide company responses and positions.
- Communicate and promote Claims Substantiation for the Americas to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and marketing objectives.
- Critically evaluate scientific data to ensure claims are supported by credible evidence, collaborating closely with R&I partner teams.
- Accountable for the evaluation and validation of product claims for L’Oréal products, including claims-related launch responsibilities for domestic, regional, and international brands.
- Identify and analyze potential risks, providing alternate solutions and ensuring alignment on claims strategies with R&I, Marketing, Legal, and international teams.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of claims specialists, ensuring solid orientation for new employees and providing growth opportunities to achieve L’Oréal’s mission.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, changes, and best practices in claims substantiation and communication, implementing innovative approaches to enhance effectiveness.
- Lead the development and implementation of global claims strategies, ensuring alignment with brand positioning and marketing objectives.
- Partner with Product Development, Regulatory, Safety, Marketing, and Legal teams, as well as worldwide Claims and Country Scientific Directors, to ensure comprehensive claims substantiation and communication.
To Succeed In This Position, you have:
- A completed Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related science is required. Masters or PhD preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive industry experience in claims substantiation is required.
- 5+ years of people management (direct reports) experience is required including leading, managing and developing high performing cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.
- Experience with product claims regulations and compliance in U.S. landscape is required
- Ability to develop a strategic vision with excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze and summarize data and topics for key business target audiences.
- Aptitude for cross-disciplinary and network operations.
- Proven leader with a strong results orientation, positive “hands on” attitude and a sense of urgency to get things done with demonstrated grace and even temperament under pressure.
- The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required).
