The Area Training Manager will serve as a representative of the L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty Brands to plan, coordinate, and execute education and sales support initiatives within retailer Beauty Service programs. Under the direction of the Sr. Manager Retail Education Training this position will be responsible for influencing and developing the expertise of retailer partners to drive brand and category advocacy through the development of strong operational partnerships at the retailer, promotion of brand priorities and initiatives by way of training and education within territory.

In order to excel in this position, candidate must be entrepreneurial in nature, exhibit strong persuasive communication skills, and have a passion for motivating through education. Candidate must possess an innate curiosity for brand development and a desire to impact LDB’s overall growth and success through your individual contributions.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

TERRITORY MANAGEMENT

The overall objective is to drive brand and category advocacy, recommendations, and sales for the L’Oreal Dermatological Beauty Brands through education and training, strategic field and event support, while maintaining “best-in-class” supplier status. Key objectives of the role include:

Executing training and education initiatives, as well as field partnerships in priority markets

Influence and develop the skills of retailer Beauty Service Team Members (BSCs, BCs, SMBs, BAEs, etc.) through the execution of national LDB education programs

Manage the development and execution of annual business plans, ensuring divisional and brand marketing strategies are implemented, while consistently meeting or exceeding KPIs

 

Operational Partnerships

  • Strategize with retail partners to develop plans rooted in education, inclusive of training, priority market field rides, and event support
  • Conduct bi-annual planning meetings to develop strategies that support the achievement of sell-through sales objectives, inclusive of: conference calls, trainings, event support, and priority market field rides
  • Facilitate regular touch bases to monitor the progress of business plans and identify any additional training needs or education opportunities
  • Track total retail performance within territory and provide monthly reporting to retailer partners. Identify key market challenges, recommending and implementing action plans to achieve
  • Cultivate working relationships with all levels of retailer management (district, store, and beauty) through consistent communication and ongoing analytics of their market, securing incremental partnership opportunities
  • Collaborate with retailer partners and field leadership to coordinate quarterly field rides in priority markets to conduct shoulder-to-shoulder training with Beauty Advisors based on the needs of the business and brand priorities, as well as connect with retailer field leadership and pharmacy teams to drive brand awareness and advocacy, while gaining exposure to potential incremental support opportunities
  • Verify planogram compliance and share best practices for merchandising to ensure brand integrity at-shelf

Training & Education

  • Establish brand authority as a subject-matter expert on dermatological skincare category and LDB brands at trainings, in-store, and at events
  • Facilitate in-person and live virtual trainings for Beauty Advisors in alignment with brand priorities and retailer training programs, inclusive of bi-annual products launches, onboarding/Brand Immersion, seasonal training programs, service and selling skills, skin indications, etc.
  • Facilitate cluster trainings within territory when applicable
  • Negotiate regular touchpoints with Beauty Advisors via retailer conference calls focused on brand priorities, event support, promotional activity, in-store activations, service and selling skills, etc.

Event Support

  • Support key field activations, events, and promotions at the retailer as driven by event/launch calendar
  • Support key brand events as the education expert to drive brand awareness, breed brand love, and cultivate brand advocacy, inclusive of tentpole events, pop-up events, brand-sponsorship events, trade shows, conferences, live-virtual selling events, etc.  

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Collaboration with various cross-functional sales and brand partners
  • Own administrative support via Salesforce, event coordination and setup, stock ordering and more
  • Manage Travel & Expenses budget, scheduling travel and accommodations, car stock allowances and approved usage, and gratis/Brand Immersion Kit requests
  • Complete required levels of the Derm Trainer Certification program focused on developing outstanding brand educators

 

Education and Job Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of sales/retail background or related experience [skincare, makeup, fragrance, hair] 
  • Passion, interest and knowledge of the cosmetic/skincare industry
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if necessary (which could include travel time)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, evolving environment  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, PPT, Outlook, TEAMS, SharePoint
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written)
  • Ability to assess customer needs and build alliances 
  • Solid coaching and leadership skills
  • Must have outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to details 
  • Effective planning and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Must reside in key territory
  • Must be able to travel to training sessions, sales meetings, trade shows, and corporate office as necessary to meet the training objectives and business needs of account executives and accounts (up to 50% of time)
