Job Title: Fabrication Lab Technician

Shift: 1st shift 

Department: UP2

Supervisor: Performance Improvement Manager

Job Summary :

To support new product launches, capital project implementation, overall equipment efficiency (OEE) improvements, and production and processing activities through identifying tooling solutions and performing in-house fabrication of tooling while maintaining a culture of safety, and being consumer-centric regarding the quality of finished goods.

 

 Job Requirements :

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

Experience:

  • Completion of formal Tool & Die Certified training program or three (3) years on-the-job training working as a tool and die maker or CNC operator
  • Proficient with CAD softwares, preferred SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
  • Minimum of two (2) years work experience in a manufacturing environment involving high speed automation

1. Support implementation and adherence to all L’Oreal policies and procedures including but not limited to, the Corporation’s Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality, & Equal Employment Policies.

2.  Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures.

3.  Build automation tooling, and prototypes using conventional and computer numerical controlled (CNC) metal-cutting and forming machines, 3D Printing, and equipment including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, die presses, machinist hand tools and precision measuring devices.

4.  Read and interpret complex engineering drawings of tooling and product, including Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) callouts, to build tooling to specification and/or properly annotate changes to tooling.

5.  Work independently to create and implement tooling solutions for production equipment when engineering design resources are not available. This may include creating 3D models or prints and/or reverse engineering existing parts for modification/fabrication.

6. Provide estimates of tooling build time to establish shop promise dates and execute assigned work to meet job promise dates.

7. Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and follow 5S methodology and perform other custodial responsibilities as required.

8. Troubleshoot and identify root cause of non-conformances caused by tooling.

9. Identify and recommend cost savings and speed-to-market opportunities through increased Fabrication Lab equipment or technological improvements.

10. Maintain clear communication with technical management, of tooling and project status.
