L’Oréal Research & Innovation (R&I) has continuously invested upstream in its research with a high level of ambition. Our 4 100 L'Oréal R&I people are talented and highly skilled, located in major markets, working in a cooperative way, open to the world.

Within this department, we are looking for a Research Engineer in Physical Chemistry to coordinate and lead characterization campaigns for our raw materials (polymers and dispersed materials), in order to deepen our knowledge of their properties and potential. This permanent contract position is available starting September 2025 in Aulnay-Sous-Bois (93).

Your main missions will be to:

  • Contribute to and coordinate the entirety of raw material characterization campaigns (polymers and dispersed materials) to accelerate the transition of our portfolio, in line with our sustainable development commitments.
  • Experimentally implement analyses of polymer raw materials (rheology, DMTA, DSC) and dispersed materials (particle size, specific surface area, density, interactions with formulation solvents).
  • Manage the subcontracting of polymer and dispersed material characterization and exploit the results.
  • Contribute to the development of methods and expertise within our laboratories in thermal analysis and rheology.
  • Ensure the quality, traceability, and sustainability of data.
  • Ensure the structuring of results in a database for sharing with users.
  • Write and update analytical methods in accordance with the requirements of our Quality system.
  • Ensure written and/or oral communication of results.
  • Collaborate with other teams in the Analysis department in Aulnay as well as the various analytical hubs in France and internationally.
  • Ensure the safety of people and property, particularly through the operational management of technicians and the supervision of laboratory activities.

Your strengths for success:

  • Physical Chemist (Master's degree equivalent Bac+5 in Materials Science, Engineer and/or Master 2) specialized in polymers and/or dispersed materials.
  • Good knowledge of physico-chemical analysis techniques for raw materials (laser particle sizing, microscopy, specific surface area, rheology, thermal analysis, etc.).
  • A solid command of scientific tools for data exploitation, processing, and structuring, including LIMS, Power BI, and eWorkbook as mandatory.
  • Fluent English.
  • Good laboratory safety practices.

  • Proactive and critical, you do not hesitate to take initiatives and challenge the status quo when appropriate.
