The Open Innovation Department of L’Oréal R&I is responsible to Detect, Select and Transform external technologies and innovation opportunities to meet or exceed our consumers’ demands. Technology Intelligence (Detect) identifies new technologies and trends of interest to L’Oréal. Scouts (Select) engage external entities such as startups, academics, and incubators to assess and triage technologies that are strategic targets. Business Development (Transform) leads cross-functional deal teams in due diligence evaluation and negotiation of transactions with external collaboration partners.

In order to accelerate L’Oréal R&I’s engagement of Asia’s external technology landscape, we are seeking a candidate for a Business Development Specialist position based in Singapore to be a part of our Asia Open Innovation team.

You will:

  • Identify opportunities and create viable business models and partnerships for the development, validation and scaling of external opportunities detected and selected in Southeast Asia, Oceania and India
  • Lead in the negotiation of key business terms for open innovation projects in close collaboration with L’Oréal stakeholders and teams
  • Manage deal life cycle in accordance with defined milestones
  • Assist internal scientific teams in the development to market of disruptive technologies in biological, chemical and physical sciences thanks to a good knowledge of intellectual property, commercial strategies and corporate finance to create impactful external collaborations
  • Participate in regional and global open innovation initiatives

You have:

  • MS degree in physical or life sciences, with business background preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with all key internal and external stakeholders in a global and matrixed organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong business relationships
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and ease in negotiating through complex agreements
