Alex (Finance Data Analytics Functional Lead): I'm Alex, I'm working as Finance Data Analytics Functional Lead in L'Oréal Groupe. And outside of my job, I love cooking.

[Alex smiles and laughs warmly.]

Alex: I love cooking Asian food. More specifically, when it's related to Cantonese food. What I love about that is about the time that I can spend on this, in order to get all the flavors that we need.

[Interviewer speaks off-screen: "Exactly, yeah."]

Alex: So, I joined L'Oréal Groupe as an intern at first. It was totally by accident. I did not know much about the cosmetic industry. Right after my internship, I had the chance to have different experiences in different roles, before landing into my current position.

[Alex smiles and rubs his forehead playfully.]

Alex: I have the chance to manage the Groupe reporting tools, which is used for key strategic missions and key decision-making. So, in my position, I'm kind of in the middle between finance and tech. I need to understand the finance needs behind, and also I need to understand the tech limits and the constraints and the system behind it at the same time. So, I need to do constantly the translation between the finance need and also the tech side.

[Music stops briefly, then soft upbeat music resumes]

Alex: So, between my job and my passion, I found there is a lot of similarity. In my job, for example, I need to understand the business need, I need to do specification to get all the stakeholders that are concerned as a project. And which I think is similar to the cooking part, where I need to gather all the ingredients, to have the step-by-step, and to respect all the time in order to achieve the goal and to have a good result at the end.

[Alex chuckles]

Alex: My secret sauce is the constant upskilling that keeps me motivated.
