Life at L'Oréal – Abdel, E-Commerce Platform Lead

The video showcases how personal passions fuel impactful, fast-moving careers at L'Oréal Groupe.

Abdel (E-Commerce Platform Lead): I'm Abdelrahman. I'm Egyptian. I work for L'Oréal Groupe as an E-commerce platform lead for the Professional Products Division, and I've been working for L'Oréal Groupe since four years.

[Interviewer speaks briefly off-screen]

Abdel: I started playing football when I was five. I played as the center defender-midfielder. Some people call this position "the maestro of the game" because they always have control over the tempo of the game. I think it's a pure adrenaline rush, and this is what keeps you moving forward. At L'Oréal, I will always be searching for the same adrenaline rush and the same pulse that I had when I was playing football.

[Abdel laughs happily]

Abdel: Before joining L'Oréal Groupe, I had the common misconception that beauty is just interesting for girls and women. And then when I joined, I found that L'Oréal actually owns a lot of brands that might be interesting for all of us. I also realized that this industry is very fast-paced and it's highly driven by tech. So the case is now very different: I became the beauty expert between my family and friends!

[Music stops]
[Voice off-screen gives a cue]

Abdel: I feel that the feeling I get from working in e-commerce is quite similar to the feeling that I had when I was playing football. Because I think they have the same adrenaline rush. E-commerce and the online market is changing very fast, so you always have to adapt and be very agile to the consumer behavior and their changing appetites.

Colleague 1: Life's too short...

[Visual: Abdel sitting in the interview seat smiles and finishes the line.]
Abdel: ...for a boring career.
