Programme duration: 1 Year
Reports to: SSA LEAD: SCIENTIFIC VALORISATION

Role purpose

Support R&I team in developing innovative scientific storytelling of cosmetic technologies by translating technical and performance-based evidence into clear, credible and compelling scientific narratives and assets. The role helps showcase the science, active ingredients and product performance behind innovations, making their value understandable and relevant to consumers across appropriate communication touchpoints. It combines scientific understanding, storytelling, content development, and consumer insight to strengthen the visibility and understanding of R&I innovation. The trainee will contribute to defined projects and build foundational skills through structured assignments and coaching.

Key responsibilities

  • Scientific storytelling and technology valorisation: Translate complex scientific and technical information into accurate, accessible and engaging narratives that showcase the technologies, mechanisms and evidence behind beauty innovations.
  • Scientific assets: Support the development and adaptation of scientific content for relevant communication touchpoints, including presentations, product explainers, demonstrations, videos, educational materials and other formats that bring technologies to life.
  • Consumer-centric communication: Use consumer questions, needs, market trends and available insights to help make scientific narratives relevant, understandable and differentiated, while maintaining scientific accuracy.
  • Scientific evidence and product-benefit communication: Gather, organise and interpret relevant scientific information; check that product-benefit communication is aligned with available evidence; identify gaps or questions and coordinate input from relevant scientific, claims and regulatory experts.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and project coordination: Work with R&I colleagues and relevant partners across laboratories, evaluation intelligence and marketing to coordinate inputs, manage feedback, track deliverables and support timely execution.
  • Scientific knowledge sharing: Contribute to scientific presentations, educational materials and knowledge-sharing initiatives that strengthen understanding of technologies and support consistent, evidence-based communication.
  • Digital and AI-enabled ways of working: Use approved digital and AI tools to support research, synthesis, content development and workflow efficiency. Validate outputs against reliable sources, protect confidential information and apply scientific judgement before use.
  • Measurement and continuous improvement: Capture relevant feedback, recurring consumer questions and available content performance insights, translating findings into recommendations to improve future scientific narratives and assets.

Qualifications and experience

  • A degree in life sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, cosmetic science, chemical engineering or another relevant scientific discipline. Candidates from marketing, communications or related disciplines may also be considered where they demonstrate a strong aptitude for understanding science and translating it into clear communication.
  • A strong interest in beauty science, research, innovation and how scientific evidence can be translated into meaningful consumer-facing communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information without losing accuracy.
  • Analytical thinking, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
  • Digital fluency and curiosity about AI-enabled tools, content formats and emerging ways of working.
  • A collaborative, proactive and organised approach, with the ability to coordinate multiple inputs and deliver against timelines.
  • Exposure to scientific communication, research, content development, digital activation, consumer insight or project coordination would be advantageous.

Success measures

  • Scientific narratives and assets communicate R&I technologies and product performance clearly, accurately and compellingly.
  • Scientific content is adapted to the intended consumer and channel while preserving the integrity of the evidence.
  • R&I inputs are coordinated effectively across stakeholders, with deliverables completed to agreed timelines.
  • Consumer feedback and available performance insights inform practical improvements to scientific content and assets.
