A Day in the Life

At L'Oréal Research & Innovation, we don’t just observe science; we pioneer it. Across our global research hubs, over 4,000 scientists push the boundaries of green sciences, biotechnology, and augmented beauty to create sustainable, inclusive products for every skin and hair type across the globe.

You will lead advanced chemical characterization for cosmetic formulations and raw materials, reporting to the Analytical Chemistry Lead within our Bengaluru R&I Hub. Operating within our global network—backed by over €1.380 Bn invested in Research & Innovation in 2025—you ensure formula safety and efficacy across diverse product lines.

• Execute targeted and untargeted LC-MS/MS and GC-MS workflows to identify unknown compounds, profile impurities, and track degradation pathways

 • Develop, optimise, and validate fit-for-purpose analytical methods to screen raw materials, supporting Augmented Beauty initiatives that combine advanced science and precision technology

 • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-resolution mass spectrometers (HRMS), HPLC/UPLC, and GC systems to maintain testing accuracy

 • Partner with formulation, safety, and regulatory teams to translate complex spectral data into clear technical reports and actionable stability insights.

• Maintain rigorous laboratory safety records and documentation in line with global quality standards.

We Are Looking For

You combine scientific rigor with a collaborative mindset to solve complex analytical puzzles. You bring:

• Analytical Chemistry & Mass Spectrometry: Demonstrated track record running autonomous LC-MS/MS and GC-MS analyses, method validation, and complex spectral data interpretation.

• Scientific Problem-Solving: Proven capability in unknown compound identification, impurity profiling, and degradation marker investigation using spectral libraries and HRMS.

 • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to partner transversally with formulation, product development, and regulatory teams on technical investigations

 • Quality & Laboratory Compliance: Commitment to upholding stringent laboratory safety protocols, data integrity, and precise record-keeping

• Scientific Communication: Fluency in articulating technical conclusions, confidence levels, and analytical reports to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
