We have a suitable opening in the Operations – Packaging team. for the role of Lead - Qualification, Packaging for the SAPMENA (South Asia, Pacific, Middle East, North Africa) zone, based in Mumbai

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring packaging excellence across the SAPMENA region for all divisions (CPD, PPD, and LDB). Reporting to the Packaging Director SAPMENA (Locally) & Packaging Qualification 

lab Director (Globally), you will lead a team of 8 experts in Homologation (3) & Compatibility (5), driving innovation, sustainability, and quality in packaging.

 

In this capacity, the Packaging Qualification Lab is responsible for:

  • Certifying and qualifying packaging components and aging finished goods (FG) products through rigorous testing to evaluate formula and packaging interactions.
  • Investigating consumer complaints specifically linked to packaging issues.
  • Characterizing various packaging components, such as flexible packaging materials, Rigid packaging, metals, tubes & glass etc.

 

 

 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and implement regional packaging qualification strategies, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Team Leadership: Build and develop a high-performing team, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and professional growth.
  • Innovation & Sustainability: Champion cutting-edge packaging solutions and sustainable practices to align with L’Oréal’s environmental commitments.

PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • 12-15 years of work experience in Packaging
  • Advanced Packaging Technical Expertise: In-depth understanding of diverse packaging materials (plastics, glass, metals, paperboard) and manufacturing processes, along with proficiency in packaging testing methodologies (e.g., compatibility, stability, functional testing).
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development: Proven capability to build, mentor, and empower high-performing teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with R&I, Manufacturing, Product Development, Packaging engineering, Packaging Innovation, and external suppliers, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Rigor: Strong critical thinking to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and develop effective, data-driven solutions for packaging challenges.
  • Project & Program Management: Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and monitor multiple complex packaging qualification projects, managing budgets and timelines efficiently.
  • Business Acumen & Regional Intelligence: Understanding of the commercial implications of packaging decisions and an awareness of the diverse cultural, economic, and regulatory landscapes within SAPMENA.
  • Communication & Presentation Skills: Clear, concise, and persuasive communication abilities to convey technical information and strategies to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing
