The Role 

In this 12 month contract position you will be required to develop, organise and drive all marketing activities across Australia and New Zealand in line with Aesop's brand positioning and philosophy. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective execution of all ANZ marketing initiatives, and ensuring overall brand objectives are met, to drive sales, enhance brand visibility, and deliver business growth.

As our Marketing Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing Aesop’s marketing strategy across Australia and New Zealand. You will oversee the planning and delivery of retail marketing, PR, events, and all campaigns and as a strong Aesop brand ambassador, you will ensure every touchpoint reflects Aesop’s unique identity and values. 

Leading a dynamic team of four, you will champion creative collaboration and operational excellence, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing based at our Collingwood head office and St. Kilda road office, this is an integral role responsible for how Aesop is expressed across Australia and New Zealand.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategic Campaign Management: Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that articulate and advance Aesop’s brand philosophy across all retail, PR, and event initiatives.
  • Retail Marketing Leadership: Collaborate closely with retail teams to drive in-store engagement, customer acquisition, and retention through innovative, on-brand activations.
  • PR & Communications: Oversee PR and media relations, cultivating meaningful partnerships that amplify Aesop’s voice and narrative in the region.
  • Event Planning & Execution: Conceptualise and deliver immersive events and experiences for key audiences, ensuring alignment with Aesop’s aesthetic and ethos.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire, mentor, and manage four direct reports (Comms, PR and Events Executive; Trade Marketing Executive; Copywriter; Finished Artist), fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration.
  • Budget Management: Own the marketing budget across all channels, ensuring efficient allocation and measurable ROI.
  • Brand Stewardship: Safeguard and promote the integrity of Aesop’s brand identity and tone of voice at every customer and community touchpoint.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and report on campaign effectiveness, leveraging insights to inform continual improvement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with global and regional teams to localise global campaigns and share best practices.
  • Innovation: Seek and evaluate new opportunities for brand growth, always underpinned by a respect for Aesop’s heritage and values.

 

Who we are looking for:

The candidate will have a thorough understanding of retail marketing, combined with a strategic mindset and a hands-on approach to delivering results. Comfortable in managing many different internal and external stakeholders and working in a fast-paced retail environment, the candidate must be a strong communicator and commercial thinker, always striving to uphold the Aesop brand values.


  • Brand Guardian: Deep appreciation for Aesop’s philosophy, with proven experience upholding brand integrity in every aspect of marketing.
  • Strategic Thinker: Demonstrated ability to design and deliver integrated marketing strategies in a premium or luxury retail context.
  • Leadership Experience: Strong people manager with experience leading, coaching, developing, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.
  • Creativity & Craft: Passion for design, storytelling, and the creation of meaningful, memorable experiences.
  • Exceptional Communicator: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts simply and elegantly – with an attention to detail of how Aesop communicates.
  • Relationship Builder: Adept at forging strong relationships with internal stakeholders, media, partners, and agencies.
  • Analytical Acumen: Comfortable with numbers and performance data, translating insights into action.
  • Organised & Agile: Excellent project management skills, able to balance multiple priorities within a dynamic environment, as well as collaborative problem solving.
  • Values-led: Commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and the thoughtful, ethical conduct that defines Aesop.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven success in in marketing roles and people management, ideally within beauty, lifestyle, or retail sector
