Job Summary 

The role involves, with the strong assistance of outside patent firms and, when needed, of the IP & Legal R&I manager for North Asia, the direct management of the IP on a specific perimeter including:

- to help lab people dig out inventions to protect the innovation for assigned JP labs, in particular to drive the construction and implementation of IP strategies for inventions generated by JP L’Oréal innovation teams, especially for Hair and Skin care team,

- to coordinate with outside patent firms to draft patent applications with high quality,

- to respond to office actions independently or review the opinions from outside agent to ensure all the patent prosecution matters are handled properly,

- to manage and contribute to the portfolio management for inventions from Japan, and

- to analyze Right-to-Market independently and provide legal opinion.

Through training, raise the level of awareness of L’Oréal innovation teams regarding IP

The role will require some coordination with other L’Oréal IP teams in other Hubs on specific projects transverse to several L’Oréal Research facilities. 

＜ Job Requirements ＞  

•    BS in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering or similar degree with 3-5 years’ experience in patent counseling, including drafting patent applications and prosecution applications in the Patent Office. Advanced degrees preferred.

•    Experienced in providing legal opinions (patentability and right to market)

•    Experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications 

•    Experience in working in a multinational and multicultural environment and willingness to learn, adapt, and cooperate

•    Registered patent attorney can be a plus.

•    Good written and oral communication skills

•    Good language skills in English
