What You Will Do:
Reporting to the SVP, Litigation and Regulatory Counsel, the attorney in this role will have responsibility for U.S. litigation facing the organization. This includes coordinating with internal colleagues as well as outside counsel. This attorney will advise the Company on litigation risks and litigation strategy and will provide effective counsel to the business. In addition, there will be opportunities to contribute to the Legal Department in other critical areas, including, for example, advertising, retail issues, contracts, and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation Support:
- Assist with the supervision and management of the Company's defense of litigation in state and federal courts throughout the U.S., including:
- General liability and products liability matters, including talc/asbestos lawsuits and multi-district litigation (“MDL”);
- Consumer class actions involving allegations of false advertising, consumer fraud, defective product claims, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”) and breach of consumer privacy, including Illinois Biometric Privacy Information Act (“BIPA”) and California Invasion of Privacy Act (“CIPA”).
- Commercial disputes (e.g., with vendors and suppliers)
- California-specific issues, including Proposition 65, CARB, etc.
- Coordinate outside counsel for all litigation matters
- Liaise with finance teams with respect to litigation budgets
- Commercial law support and guidance:
- Provide advertising and marketing law expertise, including advertising claims and substantiation review, product development, agreements, and packaging for certain product lines.
- Provide counseling and legal direction on issues affecting retail stores and e-commerce sites (e.g., terms and conditions, loyalty programs, auto-replenishment, gift cards).
- Draft, implement, and provide guidance on the Company’s data retention and IT destruction policies, including the implementation of and management of legal holds.
What We Are Looking For:
Our ideal candidate will have:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
- Member in good standing with the New York or New Jersey State bar.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience focused on all facets of litigation that are relevant to a consumer products company as described above.
- Solid judgment with exemplary respect and integrity toward others.
- The candidate should also be able to take on a diverse commercial law practice, including in advertising law, retail legal guidance, and contracts.
- Comfort with providing advice and guidance on legal issues arising in all 50 states.

Additional Benefits Information As Follows:
Salary Range: $147,100 - $213,300 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
