What You Will Do:
L’Oréal USA’s Corporate Affairs & Engagement (CA&E) department is looking for a Director, Communications & Engagement to continue to develop and implement the communications strategy for its corporate presence on the West Coast in El Segundo, California. As this position plays a key role in advancing the CA&E team’s mission of proactively protecting and building L’Oréal’s reputation in the U.S., the Director will partner with CA&E and the west coast leadership team to increase the visibility of the company’s business strategy, leadership, values, innovations and environmental and social contributions to key internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact on all communications matters related to L'Oréal USA’s El Segundo, CA corporate office while facilitating the exchange of information and alignment of the worksite to companywide communications priorities.
- Leverage internal communications and employee engagement practices to serve as the local voice for strengthening the internal culture of the west coast office and building a strong sense of pride in the company.
- Oversee proactive internal and external communications activities and stakeholder engagement, including employee communications, internal communications channel management, event production, and executive visibility in close coordination with the CA&E department and local site leadership.
- Strategize and execute West Coast-specific communications initiatives that help build the company’s reputation and solve specific business challenges while supporting the strategic clarity of leadership, the understanding and alignment of employees, and the reinforcement of our workplace culture.
- Prepare presentations, reports, briefing materials and regular communications updates for senior leadership and support corporate and brand spokespersons with media training and strategic messaging for interviews and external speaking engagements.
- Manage the site-level Crisis Preparedness program and serve as the liaison between the Corporate Crisis Team and site-level leadership when issues and crises need to be managed; surface critical information between both parties and provide timely counsel and education.
- Support the community of brand communications teams within the campus by providing counsel and coaching on business challenges and stakeholder concerns.
- In partnership with the VP HR West Coast and west-coast leadership team, identify, cultivate, and manage strategic partnerships with key organizations and community leaders to advance L'Oréal West's goals and business objectives. This includes developing joint programs, initiatives, and events that address relevant community needs and align with L'Oréal's values.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of community stakeholders.
- Plan and execute community events and activations that enhance L'Oréal USA West’s visibility and build positive relationships with local community.
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- Minimum 7-10 years of relevant in-house or agency experience.
- Exceptional writing skills; ability to distill and present complex information into clear, concise and engaging communications.
- Determined and self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced and passionate work environment.
- Strong desire to develop a deep understanding of the beauty business and the social and cultural context in which we operate, locally and globally.
- Outstanding track record of success in developing, prioritizing and managing multi-faceted communications strategies.
- Strong teamwork, analytical skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, and building and maintaining collaborative, cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent judgment and ability to juggle multiple assignments in fast-paced environment while being sensitive to the needs of colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work productively in a cross-functional environment and build strong relationships with internal and external teams.
- Demonstrates an adaptable work style, responding quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
Additional Benefits Information As Follows:
Salary Range: $126,900-$184,000 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
