As part of a new approach to globally streamline research within L’Oréal and foster a close-knit network of scientists worldwide across R&I, the Hair Care & Manageability Development Team is dedicated to transforming and developing new hair technology formulas, bringing them to life as innovative products for our consumers. This unique research field demands profound expertise in formulation processes and technology, a keen understanding of diverse consumer expectations across various markets, and a strong grasp of regulatory landscapes.
We are currently seeking a talented and innovative Chemist to join our Hair Care & Manageability Development Team at our Clark, New Jersey Research and Innovation facility. In this pivotal role, you will create novel formulas and textures, collaborate effectively with internal and external partners and fellow scientists, and ultimately bring these formulas to fruition as the next generation of blockbuster products for our hair care brands.
A Day in the Life:
- Product Development and Innovation: Develop innovative hair care products across diverse galenic forms, leveraging new ingredients to create unique textures and deliver exceptional efficacy, particularly for hair care and hair manageability applications. Refine formulas and perform product stability on all formulas. Resolve stability issues as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional R&I teams, business stakeholders, and industrial partners to guarantee optimal formula design, timely project delivery with well-defined milestones, and adherence to rigorous quality standards in all aspects of product development, including safety, microbiology, and regulatory compliance.
- Research and Testing Strategy: Devise and implement comprehensive research and testing strategies, collaborating with a global network of engaged researchers to substantiate robust product quality and performance.
We Are Looking For: You’re a great match for this role if you are an innovator, entrepreneur, integrator, and problem-solver with a research-minded approach, eager to contribute to leading hair care brands.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, or a related scientific/engineering discipline is required. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in formulation research, ideally in a personal care or cosmetic field
- Knowledge of US hair market & requirements desirable
- Proven experience in Research & Development, demonstrating a project-oriented mindset focused on delivering robust, innovative, and highly functional products.

- The ability to be onsite, in the office/laboratory as this is an essential function of the position (required)
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis without the need for legal sponsorship now or in the future (required)

- Base Salary Range: $65,400 - $91,500 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
