The Public Affairs Director - Digital Data & Tech is a newly created role within L’Oréal's global Public Affairs function in the Corporate Affairs & Engagement structure  based at L’Oréal Headquarters. This role reports into the Associate Vice President Public Policy

This person will be responsible for understanding and navigating the political reality and technicalities of digital policies. He/she provides L’Oréal with insights to shape the global public affairs landscape in support of L’Oréal’s vision, the global digital and data roadmap as well as the Group’s global policy objectives and missions.


The Public Affairs Director - Digital Data & Tech:

  • Drives independently the pole of expertise on digital & data policy.
  • Coordinates the global public policy roadmap and supports L’Oréal’s global policy initiatives with a focus on digital data and tech policy issues.
  • Supports countries and businesses in anticipating and influencing public policy on digital data and tech issues.
  • Works closely with the PA team globally and with the CDO, Beauty Tech, Zones, CSR, Operations R&I and any other relevant teams to strategically develop, pursue and execute policy objectives for the Group.
Specific areas of responsibility:

  • Acting as the point of reference on policy making for L’Oréal centrally and locally & being a resource for driving policy making in key markets.
  • Horizon scanning and monitoring of relevant policy developments with a focus on digital data tech matters changes in legislation or political topics, public policy events, providing insights and business impact analysis.
  • Providing insights and business impact analysis of these developments; assist in coordinating various submission and consultation responses either directly on behalf of L’Oréal or in concert with industry bodies.
  • Coordinating policy positioning and advocacy strategy of policy development impacting the Group.
  • Producing accessible and effective written briefings on often complex topics for internal and external audiences. 
  • Supporting the advocacy and engagement strategy and execution in global forums and key markets.
  • Co-designing stakeholder engagement programmes: developing and actively engaging with a network of key stakeholders to position L’Oréal and to share the Group’s vision and priorities including policy makers and legislators; and trade & industry bodies.
  • Identifying and participating in relevant forums with a view to feeding in L’Oréal’s thought leadership. 
  • Supporting a robust communication program working with colleagues in relevant other business units as well as CDO, Beauty Tech Operations, Divisions Legal and Compliance Businesses and zones.
  • Support the roll out of global campaigns as they relate to digital topics. 
  • Identifies and organizes resources needed to deliver on policy objectives, in cooperation with the Global Public Affairs team. 



  • 15+ years relevant professional experience.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field: with a political flair, or lawyer, or a public affairs practitioner with a taste for digital issues.
  • Robust experience in government affairs, legislative and/or policymaking in a field close and relevant to digital/tech.
  • Very good knowledge of legislative and policy environments in relation to digital issues, with existing track record of contacts/collaboration with relevant decision makers. 
  • Excellent command of English & French both written and oral. Knowledge of additional languages are strong assets.
