Data Protection, Digital and IT

Reporting to the Vice-President, Legal Affairs, Ethics and Data Protection Officer, you will work across all business areas by providing strategic legal advice on all aspects of data privacy in addition to participating in implementation of strategic orientations, development and growth of the compliance and governance program regarding data and personal information. You will also support the organization with innovation, digital marketing and information technology (IT).

What you will do:

      Provide legal advice in respect of data privacy, confidentiality and CASL by acting as a resource person who will address all questions, guide all business units, manage and respond to any problems, incidents or crisis.

      Develop and implement related policies, consents, forms, practices, legal notices and governance framework.

      Analyze and advise all business units on privacy and confidentiality requirements for all types of marketing initiatives and the development of products and services.

      Maintain privacy program to properly track, test, investigate and report inappropriate access and disclosure of protected data, mitigation and remediation.

      Draft, review and negotiate contracts in accordance with global privacy requirements and provide support in the development of guidelines, training and tools to support privacy accountability and compliance.

      Manage all processes for determining and notifying violations under applicable federal and provincial laws

      Conduct or supervise complaints investigations.

In addition to these main responsibilities, as a curious and agile lawyer, you will also support your legal team with any other operational matters that may require special attention. The ideal person will be a member of the Barreau du Québec and will have 3 to 8 years of experience acquired in a law firm and/or in-house in the fields of personal information protection, data privacy, digital and IT. The candidate must have strong writing, communication and presentation skills in both French and English. The person will also have a strong business sense and be pragmatic and solutions-oriented towards problem solving.
