A Day in the Life of Senior Engineer - QA Automation (Tosca)!

We are seeking highly motivated, well-rounded, and fast-learning QA Automation Engineers to join our growing Quality Assurance (QA) team at ITH. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic environment where agility, rapid learning, and technical versatility are key.

The ideal candidates are not just specialized automation engineers, but complete QA professionals who understand the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) and are ready to leverage modern technologies. We are looking for testers who are forward-thinking, skilled in both custom scripted frameworks and industry-leading enterprise tools like Tricentis Tosca, and capable of integrating AI-powered testing techniques to optimize our workflows. You will be responsible for defining test strategies, writing comprehensive manual test cases when needed, and designing, developing, and executing robust automated test suites to ensure the highest quality for our applications.

In this role, You will..

• Test Automation Development: Design, build, maintain, and scale automated testing frameworks for web, mobile, and API applications (REST/GraphQL) using both enterprise model-based platforms and open-source scripting frameworks.
• Enterprise Test Automation (Tricentis): Set up, configure, and execute test cases using Tricentis Tosca. Maintain and structure model-based modules, test sheets, and execution lists to ensure robust, reusable test coverage.
• AI-Enhanced Quality Assurance: Leverage AI-driven testing tools and generative AI utilities (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or specialized autonomous QA agents) to accelerate test case generation, automate script maintenance, and conduct intelligent log/defect analysis.
• End-to-End Quality Ownership: Own the QA process from requirements analysis to post-release monitoring. Perform a mix of automated (70-80%) and structured manual/exploratory testing (20-30%) based on project needs.
• CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites (including Tosca execution lists and open-source frameworks) into modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to support continuous testing.
• Agile Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Software Developers in an Agile/Scrum environment to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria (BDD/Gherkin), and identify edge cases early in the design phase.
• Defect Management & Reporting: Identify, document, isolate, and track bugs systematically. Provide clear, detailed, and actionable bug reports, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues quickly.
• Rapid Knowledge Acquisition: Quickly master complex internal systems, configurations, and business flows. Be ready to pivot across different technology stacks and applications within the L'Oreal ecosystem as project demands evolve.

What are we looking for?

Technical & Automation Skills:

• Enterprise Automation Tools: Hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca (Model-Based Test Design, test sheets, requirements synchronization, and execution lists). Knowledge of other Tricentis suite tools (like qTest or LiveCompare) is a strong plus.
• Open-Source Automation Frameworks: Strong familiarity with modern test automation tools and frameworks (such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Cypress.io).
• Programming/Scripting: Proficiency in at least one major programming or scripting language used in automation (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java) to customize test scripts when required.
• API Testing: Extensive experience testing RESTful APIs and microservices using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or automated libraries (e.g., SuperTest, Requests, or Tosca API Scan).
• Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of databases and ability to write SQL queries to verify data integrity and perform backend testing.
• Version Control: Comfortable using Git for source code management and collaborative development of test scripts.

AI & Modern Testing Skills:

• AI Tooling & Coding Assistants: Practical experience using AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Tabnine) to write and debug test automation code more efficiently.
• Prompt Engineering for QA: Ability to leverage large language models (LLMs) to write detailed test plans, generate diverse test data sets, draft complex test scenarios, and accelerate test development.
• AI-Driven Testing Concepts: Familiarity with modern self-healing test automation tools, automated visual regression testing, or predictive test analytics is highly desirable.

Professional & Core Attributes:

• Well-Rounded QA Mindset: Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes. Ability to perform functional, regression, integration, security, and performance testing.
• Rapid Learner: Proven capability to quickly absorb new business domains, functional flows, and tech stacks with minimal supervision.
• Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical thinking to dissect complex system workflows and pinpoint potential failure modes.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical defects to developers and business impact to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Tricentis Certifications: Tosca Automation Specialist (AS1/AS2) or Test Design Specialist (TDS1/TDS2) certifications are highly preferred.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Familiarity with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow.
• Prior experience in retail, supply chain, beauty-tech, or large corporate IT environments.
• Knowledge of mobile application testing (iOS/Android) using Appium or similar tools.
