A Day in the Life
This role will report to the Director of Technical Packaging, as Manager, Packaging Engineering for NYX PMU, you will be a key member of a small, highly collaborative team of three. You will be at the forefront of packaging innovation for NYX PMU, working closely with marketing, innovation, operations, and various other teams to deliver cutting-edge packaging solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a fast-growing brand, while developing your leadership and technical skills within a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be responsible for managing and influencing all aspects of packaging engineering, from initial concept to final production, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards. This includes managing supplier relationships, overseeing tooling development, and troubleshooting technical issues across the entire supply chain. You will also play a key role in driving sustainability initiatives and implementing process improvements.
- Packaging Design & Development: Manage and influence packaging design from concept to cost, ensuring designs are technically feasible and meet brand requirements. This includes defining specifications, engineering technical conceptions, and optimizing designs for manufacturability.
- Supplier Management: Influence supplier selection based on technical capabilities and overall business considerations. Manage supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Tooling & Validation: Manage the development of new tooling, approve technical drawings, and oversee part validation. Ensure all technical milestones are met within project timelines.
- Quality & Compliance: Own packaging specifications and ensure on-time technical validations. Troubleshoot technical issues across the supply chain, support solutions for consumer complaints and non-conformities, and ensure adherence to quality standards. Responsible for 1st component reception quality in the plant.

- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related technical discipline is required.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in packaging engineering
- Packaging Engineering Expertise: Proven experience in packaging engineering, with a strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and decoration techniques.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software and experience operating a 3D printer is highly desirable. Experience with internal systems (MINDS, Compak) is required.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively influence and collaborate with all levels of a diverse and global organization and supplier base.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to anticipate and recognize risks, analyze data, identify root causes, draw conclusions, and deliver solid technical reports with viable packaging solutions.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of the financial implications of packaging decisions and the ability to contribute to value analysis initiatives.
- Consumer-centric mindset: Design packaging solutions that prioritize user experience, convenience, and safety, while also considering environmental impact and brand communication to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Sustainability/ L4TF: Design sustainable packaging solutions that minimize environmental impact, promote resource efficiency, and support circular economy principles, while ensuring product protection and meeting consumer needs.
- The ability to be onsite, in the office as this is an essential function of the position (required)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future (required)
