Who We Are:
We are looking for an interdisciplinary Art Director who is an expert in brand storytelling across mediums and building fluid design systems. The ideal candidate is a conceptually-driven, strategic thinker who can deliver top-tier creative solutions, obsessed with design patterns and typography, and is dialed into current cultural trends. They understand the necessary marriage of brand creative and design that optimizes for conversion, yet seek solutions that break the existing molds. The Art Director should feel very comfortable leading projects and design teams throughout the entire project lifecycle. He/she/they will actively participate in and lead ideation sessions to generate innovative ideas, from storyboard to final production, for key creative across the brand ecosystem. They should also have a strong understanding of printed materials and production techniques—including packaging, publication, mailers, in-store displays, and experiential design. The Art Director will function as a core leader on the creative team, while partnering closely with the Head of Creative and cross-functional stakeholders to produce the best-quality creative that continues to elevate and evolve the Youth To The People brand.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Lead definition and evolution of design system, understanding the value of design patterns and helping to build and maintain a cohesive visual language
Drive concept and execution of both print and digital creative around new product launches, brand initiatives + partner collaborations, web, social media channels, in-store displays, and experiential for the brand to support product, marketing and business objectives
Own strategy and creative application across multiple projects at once
Identify brand development opportunities and implement strategic insights
Work collaboratively with creative team as a whole and cross functional stakeholders to execute on innovative, integrated solutions—lead ideation and working sessions
Work from concept to completion on all visual touchpoints of new product launch campaigns
Keep a close eye on full project process and ensure quality and consistency of deliverables
Maintain deadlines, deliveries and communication to internal and external partners
Attend any required / necessary press checks for print work
All other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
6+ years experience in graphic design and related, but really it’s all about the work
Experience leading projects from concept to launch
Strong ability to lead a team in carrying out a vision
A love for establishing and evolving design systems
Exceptional eye for detail and trained in typography + layout
Ability to generate and pitch in design concepts and strategies
Comfortable working across many different platforms while building consistency (i.e. digital, web, motion, branding, art direction and experiential)
Working knowledge and understanding of print and prepress production
3D/Motion expertise a big plus
Collaborative yet generative working style
Generalist full of curiosity, self motivated, team player mentality
Top-tier visual storytelling skills
Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities
Ability to be flexible and agile with constant changes and time restraints—proven aptitude for quick, creative, and adaptive thinking
Experience working in smaller, high-growth company is a plus
Proficient in: Adobe CC, Figma, Conceptual Design, Digital Design, Type Design, Interactive and Motion graphics, Environmental, Art Direction, Project Management, 2D, 3D
Salary Range: $110-140k base + bonus
