A Day in the Life of Adobe Workfront Core Developer!
L'Oreal is deploying Adobe Workfront globally as the core Operating System for its Content Adaptation Factories. As a Workfront Core Developer, you will design, build, and optimise the platform's internal structure and user experience — including custom forms, metadata models, calculated fields, layout templates, advanced reporting, and proofing workflows. Thousands of L'Oreal marketers, translators, and creative agencies rely on your work daily to localise and adapt campaign content at scale.
In this role, You will..
Be responsible for the following:
Metadata Modelling & Configuration Engineering
- Design, configure, and maintain the global Workfront database schema: complex Custom Forms, Custom Statuses, and system object relationships.
- Build advanced Calculated Custom Fields using Workfront formulas (date math, string manipulation, logical conditions, system wildcards).
- Create and maintain Layout Templates tailored to distinct user personas (Brand Managers, Content Producers, Agency Creatives, Translators).
- Manage bulk data operations and schema deployments across environments using Workfront Kick-Starts (XML/CSV templates).
Workflow Modelling & Template Design
- Build, test, and optimise dynamic Project Templates and Task Workflows for creative production, transcreation, and local market adaptation.
- Configure Request Queues with advanced queue topics, routing rules, and custom mapping for localisation brief intake.
- Design and configure Agile/Kanban and Scrum boards with story points, custom card layouts, and progress statuses for content factory workflows.
Text Mode & Advanced Reporting
- Write complex Text Mode code for custom reports, interactive dashboards, views, groupings, and filters.
- Build collection-based reporting with nested EXISTS queries to extract deeply nested workflow performance data.
- Implement conditional formatting using Text Mode inline CSS styling for dynamic, colour-coded health indicators in reports.
- Build real-time analytics tracking content factory KPIs: Time-to-Market, cycle times, throughput, bottleneck analysis.
Proofing & Approval Architecture
- Design and configure Workfront Proof (ProofHQ) environments with multi-stage Automated Workflow Templates, custom decision routing, and deadlines.
- Configure proofing profiles, custom decision statuses, and proof role permissions aligned with legal, regulatory, and brand validation requirements.
Security & Access Governance
- Configure a robust multi-tenant access model using Access Levels, System Preferences, Companies, Divisions, Groups, and Teams to partition data across global brands and markets.
- Collaborate with L'Oreal security teams on SSO/SAML integration and automated user provisioning (SCIM / Azure AD).
What are we looking for?
Text Mode & Reporting
- Mastery of Text Mode syntax to build reports, views, filters, and groupings beyond standard UI capabilities. Multi-object joins, custom collections, EXISTS block code.
- CSS inline styling injection in Text Mode for conditional formatting (background colours, progress bars, custom icons based on data values).
- Nested calculated field formulas: string parsing (SUBSTR, CONCAT, SEARCH), date calculations (DATEDIFF, WEEKDAY), conditional logic (IF/AND/OR).
Metadata, Database & System Engineering
- Practical knowledge of the Workfront API Explorer (v15+) for schema queries, bulk edits, and API object exploration.
- Proficiency with Workfront Kick-Starts for data migration, seeding, backfill, and mass-update operations.
- Experience designing complex security hierarchies: sharing rules, object-sharing overrides, user-profile access matrices.
Resource & Agile Configuration
- Hands-on configuration of Workload Balancer and Resource Planner.
- Job Roles, FTE allocation, timesheet profiles, task assignment priorities, and schedule overrides.
- Agile framework configuration: Scrum/Kanban cards, backlog settings, WIP limits, and team story boards.
Proofing Engine
- Advanced ProofHQ configuration: custom decision statuses, custom proof roles, proofing webhooks.
- Multi-tiered automated proof workflows with stage gates, deadlines, and decision-triggered actions.
General
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with distributed, multi-cultural teams.
- Systematic approach to debugging and configuration troubleshooting.
- Fluent professional English (written and spoken).
Certifications
- Required: Adobe Certified Professional — Workfront System Administrator or Workfront Core Developer. Candidates without certification may be considered if they demonstrate equivalent expertise during the technical assessment. Certification must then be obtained within 6 months of joining.
Nice to Have
- Conceptual understanding of JSON structures, webhooks, and REST API principles.
- Prior experience in marketing operations, creative agencies, digital asset management (DAM), or localisation pipelines.
- Experience working in sprint-based delivery using Jira or Workfront itself for project tracking.
- Familiarity with Adobe Workfront Fusion (even at a basic level) to understand integration touchpoints.
