In the department of Advanced Research, we are looking for a Process Science Expert.

As a Process Science Expert, your main responsibilities are :
- Develop disruptive platform technologies for cosmetic formulations driven by process innovation concepts.
- Provide scientific leadership and independently manage projects to feed métiers strategical innovation road map. Project nature includes performing substantial hands-on experiments in the labs as well at the external vendor site, preparing technical reports and timely presenting the work within team.
- Perform chemical analysis and physical property testing of materials and products.
- Establish long term strategy including scouting/deployment of new process equipment to maximize L’Oréal processing capability by leveraging strong Japanese processing industry/science. Includes attending Lab renovation support, process exhibitions, conferences, building strategies with the team.
- Provide through delegation from the head of the laboratory operational and administrative management of the laboratory (safety, planning, investment, contracts, participating in meetings, etc.)
- Work in close collaboration with application domains and development labs and communicate the findings globally within L’Oréal community.
- Continuous improvement of technical skills by participating in vendor seminars, exhibitions, and conferences in the cosmetic field.
- The other tasks may include creating standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests, participating in installation of new machines, and conducting regular maintenance and inspection of existing equipment and facilities.
To succeed in this position, you have :
- Master’s degree or PhD in process engineering, chemical engineering or mechanical engineering with work experience ideally in Cosmetics/Ink/Paints/Pharma/Oral care/Food or other relevant fields.
- Hands-on experience on process and formulation of pharmaceutical products or personal care products.
- Preferably to have working knowledge of physicochemical characterization methodologies like SEM, TEM, XRD, Optical microscopy etc.
- Open to work on heavy machines.
- Willing to travel (domestic and international) for external vendor trials.
- Good network in academia or corporate will be a big plus.
- Open mindset and flexible to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Experience working on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based simulations or other similar process modeling tools will be a big plus
- Japanese fluency close to native level due to the nature of this role
- Comfortable working in English working environment
