Role Description:
We are looking for a visionary and passionate Director of Visual Merchandising who excels at disruptive brand storytelling and "out-of-the-box" retail thinking to lead the L'Oréal Professionnel team. This is a high-impact role responsible for the strategic physical articulation of the brand across all categories, including Care at Sephora and the full portfolio of Color, Care, and high-tech Innovation (AirLight Pro) at SalonCentric.
The Director will serve as the architect of the brand's in-store experience, translating L'Oréal Professionnel's "big bets" into immersive retail environments and impactful brand expressions and animations. You will add significant value to Marketing, Sales, and Education by driving traffic and conversion within both professional distribution and prestige consumer outlets. As a result, the ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker capable of increasing retail productivity through successful campaign execution and innovative merchandising strategies. This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset, an elite creative vision, and the ability to influence senior leadership through exceptional communication.

Adapt global strategies to meet US market needs while optimizing communication between global stakeholders and local retail partners to ensure best-in-class execution.
• Strategic Retail Pitch & Placement: Lead the semi-annual SalonCentric pitch process. Strategically align store placement proposals with the brand's panier, develop innovative placement concepts, and collaborate with the Creative team on visual alignment. Own the creation of the pitch deck and, once awarded, manage the end-to-end execution of the placement.
• Omni-Category Merchandising (Color, Care, & AirLight Pro): Direct the visual strategy and creative vision for monthly store merchandising across the entire LP portfolio.
• Publication Management: Oversee the creative vision and project management process for the monthly SalonCentric catalog, including page reservation, pagination, storytelling conceptualization, brand alignment, briefing process, and the SC proofing process. Direct the creation and production of the Annual Printed Brand Book, managing the end-to-end briefing in partnership with Marketing and Sales teams and the proofing process through Wrike.
• Merchandising (Color & Care Inline): Manage the maintenance and evolution of the Colorwall and retail sets. Oversee POG updates, manage monthly in-store marketing for promotions, and align all merchandising efforts with innovation and educational initiatives to ensure a consistent customer experience across all touchpoints.
• Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as the primary hub for collaboration between Brand Marketers (Color/Care), Demand Planning (inventory for stores), Finance, SalonCentric Marketing/Merchandising, Creative, Purchasing, and external Suppliers. Ensure all milestones and key approvals are met through rigorous timeline management.
• Financial Optimization: Manage both a Fuel and CAPEX budget, with a constant focus on identifying opportunities to optimize and streamline spend. Oversee BOLD invoicing, catalog cost approvals, and budget reconciliations. Manage the bimonthly mailings budget and partner with PODs to ensure the budget is strictly maintained.
• Inventory & Logistics (BOLD): Maintain the BOLD inventory fixture storage and communicate with SalonCentric for inventory reconciliation. Brief Purchasing on fixture orders while managing the budget and monitoring the master store fixture inventory.
• In-Store Execution & Communication: Create a comprehensive monthly merchandising deck incorporating all feedback. Work closely with the SalonCentric marketing and merchandising teams on reviewing monthly materials. Actively participate in crafting communications with internal teams to support any merchandising directives to stores.
• Market Intelligence: Conduct regular store visits to audit execution and seek inspiration. Monitor trends in both the Professional and Consumer retail markets.
