Job Title: Manager-Value Added Services (VAS) Planning and Execution 

Location: Mumbai 

 

Job Summary:

The VAS Planning and Execution Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of value-added products and services. This includes the strategic planning of promotional sets, limited editions, personalized packaging and Testers/Samples, as well as the operational oversight of the execution phase within distribution centers or with external partners. The goal is to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery of customized products that enhance the consumer experience and drive brand loyalty. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning & Forecasting 

  • Collaborate with Division Supply Chain, Product Development and Marketing teams to define the VAS roadmap (e.g., holiday bundles, influencer kits, liquidation SKUs). 
  • Analyze historical data and sales forecasts to determine required capacities, labor needs, and component requirements. 
  • Translate marketing concepts into feasible technical specifications for production. 

 

2. Production & Execution Management 

  • Supervise the daily operations of VAS activities, ensuring production schedules are met in alignment with product launch dates. 
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) or internal production teams to ensure execution excellence. 
  • Monitor production progress and proactively resolve bottlenecks or material shortages. 

 

3. Procurement & Component Management 

  • Oversee the sourcing and inventory management of non-saleable components such as ribbons, boxes, specialized labels, and inserts. 
  • Work with the Procurement team to select vendors that meet quality standards and sustainability goals. 
  • Ensure "Bill of Materials" (BOM) accuracy for every VAS project. 

 

4. Quality Control & Compliance 

  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards for finished sets to ensure they reflect the brand’s premium image. 
  • Ensure all VAS activities comply with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental sustainability guidelines. 
  • Conduct regular audits of the assembly lines and finished goods. 

 

5. Financial Oversight & Cost Optimization 

  • Manage the VAS budget, tracking labor costs, material expenses, and overheads. 
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and "Value Engineering" to reduce costs without compromising quality. 
  • Analyze the Return on Investment (ROI) of specific VAS activities in collaboration with Finance. 

 

6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation 

  • Drive digital transformation within VAS operations (e.g., implementing tracking software or automation in kitting). 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in personalization and sustainable packaging. 
  • Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve throughput and reduce waste. 

 

Required Profile & Competencies:

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field. 
  • 7–9 years of experience in supply chain, logistics or production management, preferably within the cosmetics, luxury, or FMCG sectors. 
  • Proven experience in planning and managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. 

 

Technical Skills:

  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). 
  • Project Management: Strong grasp of project management tools (MS Project, Trello, or Asana). 
  • Analytical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets to drive decision-making. 
  • Technical Understanding: Knowledge of packaging materials, printing processes, and assembly line mechanics. 

 

Soft Skills:

  • Agility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. 
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills to bridge the gap between creative marketing teams and industrial operations. 
  • Attention to Detail: An uncompromising eye for aesthetic quality and precision. 
  • Leadership: Experience in managing cross-functional teams or external vendors.
