A Day in the Life
As a Senior Industrial Designer within the UX Design Lab, reporting to the Head of UX Design, you will be a key player in shaping the future of L'Oréal's packaging. You'll collaborate closely with a diverse team of marketing professionals, engineers, product developers, and laboratory experts, both internally and internationally, as well as external suppliers. Your work will directly impact the innovation pipeline, ensuring our packaging is not only aesthetically pleasing but also intelligent, sustainable, and technically feasible.
- Consumer-Centric Design: You will analyze consumer needs and behaviors to create packaging solutions that meet their expectations and enhance their experience.
- Aesthetic & Creative Excellence: You will leverage your creativity and understanding of brand DNA to design stunning and desirable packaging that elevates the consumer experience.
- Trend Forecasting: You will stay abreast of cosmetic and competitive trends, critically evaluating existing packaging and identifying opportunities for innovation.
- Sustainable Solutions: You will proactively explore eco-responsible materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring our packaging aligns with L'Oréal's sustainability goals.
- Technical Feasibility: You will collaborate with engineers and product developers to ensure your designs are technically feasible, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
- Design Thinking Leadership: You will lead and participate in Design Thinking workshops and Design Sprints, driving innovation on our most ambitious projects.
- Prototyping & Supplier Collaboration: You will create and test prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques and maintain close relationships with suppliers to explore new materials and technologies.
We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced and creative industrial designer with a passion for sustainable design and a proven track record of success in the cosmetics industry. You are a charismatic and entrepreneurial leader, comfortable challenging stakeholders and driving innovation within a large, complex organization.
- Expertise in Cosmetics Packaging: Deep understanding of the cosmetics industry, packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Sketching & Rendering Skills: Ability to create compelling sketches, 3D drawings, and renderings using Keyshot, Rhino, Solidworks, or AI tools to effectively communicate design concepts.
- UX Design Expertise: Proven ability to translate consumer insights into innovative and user-friendly packaging designs.
- Prototyping Skills: Experience in rapid prototyping techniques.
- Strong Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Leadership & Entrepreneurial Spirit: Ability to lead design projects, inspire teams, and drive innovation.
