Role Summary: 

We are looking for a visionary and hands-on Data Quality Lead (DQL) in Commerce data management team to ensure that our Beauty Tech Data Platform (BTDP), our central data warehouse, provides not just "good enough" data, but truly fully accurate and consistent data that our Commerce business demands. 

 

This critical role is at the forefront of our data excellence journey. You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and optimizing our end-to-end data quality strategy across the Commerce data. Your mission will be to transform our data quality processes from reactive to proactive, preventative, and continuously improving framework. You will identify critical data quality checks across the entire data lifecycle, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and validity. Beyond technical implementation, you will be a strategic partner, fostering a data-driven culture, establishing clear communication plans for data quality issues, and transparently reporting on our data health to ensure maximum impact on analytics and business outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Data Quality Strategy & Framework Development: 

  • Architect and Implement: Design, develop, and implement a robust, proactive, and scalable end-to-end data quality framework specifically tailored for the Commerce domain within the BTDP.
  • Rule Definition: Define comprehensive data quality rules, standards, and metrics (KQIs/KPIs) to monitor data accuracy, consistency, completeness, timeliness, and validity across all critical data elements.
  • Process Ownership: Own the entire data quality process, from initial data ingestion to final consumption, ensuring that data quality checks are embedded at every stage of the data pipeline.
  • Roadmap & Prioritization: Manage and prioritize data quality initiatives and backlog for the Commerce function, creating a clear roadmap for continuous improvement.

2. Proactive Monitoring & Issue Management: 

  • End-to-End Vigilance: Proactively identify potential data quality issues by analyzing end-to-end data flows, data transformations, and business logic within the BTDP.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct in-depth root cause analysis for identified data quality issues, collaborating closely with Data Stewards, Data Custodians, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Remediation & Prevention: Lead and coordinate remediation efforts, implementing sustainable solutions to address root causes and prevent recurrence. Drive the adoption of preventative measures over reactive fixes.
  • Dashboard & Reporting: Enhance and maintain a comprehensive, user-friendly data quality dashboard that provides real-time visibility and transparency into data health, key metrics, and issue resolution status for all stakeholders.

3. Communication, Collaboration & Governance: 

  • Strategic Communication: Develop and execute clear, impactful communication plans regarding data quality issues, their impact on analytics, and business operations. Tailor communications to various technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong collaborative relationships with business users, Data Product Owners, Analytics Product Owners, Data Engineers, and IT teams to align on data quality priorities, requirements, and solutions.
  • Governance Adherence: Ensure strict adherence to global data governance principles, standards, and policies within the Commerce data. Document new best practices and policy-compliant processes as required.
  • Training & Enablement: Design and deliver training programs to empower business teams and data consumers with the knowledge and tools to understand, monitor, and contribute to high data quality standards.

4. Continuous Improvement & Innovation: 

  • Agile Mindset: Lead with an Agile approach, continuously seeking opportunities to optimize data quality processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Technology Leverage: Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and approaches to enhance our data quality capabilities and automation.
  • Test Scenario Development: Create robust test scenarios and supervise data validation with testing teams to ensure data integrity during new feature development and platform enhancements.
  • Success Metrics: Define and track key success metrics to measure the effectiveness of data quality initiatives and demonstrate tangible business value.

Required Qualifications 

Experience: 

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in a dedicated Data Quality, Data Governance, or Data Operations role within a large-scale data environment.
  • Proven track record of defining, implementing, and maturing enterprise-level data quality programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex data profiling, root cause analysis, and develop effective, sustainable solutions for data quality issues.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets, ideally within a commerce, retail, or consumer goods context.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and leading data-related projects.

Domain Knowledge (Commerce Focus): 

  • Understanding of commerce and sales data, including sales metrics, customer data, product catalogs, pricing, promotional activities, and variable compensation plans.
  • Experience with handling diverse data sets from various sources (internal, retailer data, external market data).
  • Familiarity with the end-to-end commercial data lifecycle.

Data-related technical skills 

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of data, data ingestion, data flow, proper data management and best practices
  • A combination of data management and business knowledge to be able to translate the data quality needs into actionable remediation and prevention processes
  • Working understanding of data quality dimensions and related best practices

Tools & Programming 

  • SQL
  • PowerBI
  • Microsoft Excel functions and formulas
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery
  • Data profiling tools e.g. Informatica, DataPlex

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and business audiences.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork, mobilize cross-functional teams (Data Stewards, Data Custodians, Engineers, Business Users), and drive consensus towards data quality goals.
  • A self-starter who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to understand business rules and translate them into technical data quality requirements and solutions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.

Additional Benefits Information As Follows: 

Salary Range: $98,400 - $140,200 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
