What You Will Do:
The Director of Business Planning plays a critical role in driving sales and operational efficiency within the L'Oréal Dermatological Beauty division. The Business Planner is a pivotal strategic role designed to bridge the gap between the commercial sales account team’s forecast, the supply chain forecast, and corporate financial commitments by customer. This role encompasses strategic oversight and hands-on management of the sales and planning processes. The Director will collaborate closely with the Walmart & Club Commercial Account Teams, Demand Planning, Account Suplply Chain, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment between business objectives and operational execution. As Business Planning director, you will serve as the primary validator of National Account teams’ forecasts for both Sell-In and Sell-Out with a strong focus on data-driven insights, continuous improvement, and maximizing sales for the division/accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
Walmart & Club Business Planning:
- Maintain and consolidate accurate sales forecasts for the Dermatological Beauty portfolio within the Walmart & Club accounts, incorporating input from sales teams, trade marketing, market analysis, syndicated data (like Nielsen or IRI), and historical data.
- Act as the lead auditor for retailer-specific forecasts, conducting rigorous weekly and monthly reviews of the account team’s estimates - analyzing consumption versus shipments to optimize planning and challenge the account team’s figures.
- Follow Walmart and Club’s sell-in (Base, Pipe, Promo) and sell-out for all brands in portfolio to ensure monthly sell-in objective is met.
- Validate the accuracy of Sell-Out projections against historical trends and run rates; combined with promotional forecasts to advise on lifts.
- Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against plan and identify areas for improvement and highlight any risks or opportunities to key stakeholders.
- Ensure the Sell-In forecast is synchronized with Sell-Out trends to prevent SISO gaps and/or explain the reasons why.
- Analyze and explain shifts in inventory posture month-over-month, identifying the root causes of pipeline fluctuations.
- Ensure retailer inventory health is maintained in alignment with corporate targets and seasonal demand.
- Identify shortfalls early in the cycle and work collaboratively with Sales to develop gap-closing initiatives.
- Track real-time progress against the monthly landing, providing visibility and course correction recommendations to stakeholders.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- In collaboration with Marketing and National Accounts teams, the business planning director will help to be the voice of the customer during the monthly planning cycle.
- The planner will lead the Customer Consensus Meeting (CCM) and communicate key adjustments to forecast to the key stakeholders.
- Partner with Customer Supply Chain to maintain the “by customer” weeks of supply KPIs.
- Key player in building the yearly budget /trends of the division in collaboration with the National Account Teams and Finance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and other relevant functions, specifically focused on the Dermatological Beauty division.
Internal Stakeholder Communication:
- Create and deliver presentations to communicate key findings, recommendations, and business updates on Walmart & Club to various audiences, including senior management and external partners.
- Communicate the "why" behind the numbers, ensuring that senior leadership understands the risks and opportunities within each retailer’s portfolio which will be rolled up to the National Planning Team.
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial sales, business planning, or a related field within the consumer goods or beauty industry, with a proven track record in a major retailer environment (Walmart experience a strong plus). Experience working with Walmart is a significant advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of key financial principles, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- High proficiency in MS Office: Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Benefits Information As Follows:
Salary Range: $116,800 – 143,905 (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
