Key Job Accountabilities

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced External Communications Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preserving and elevating the Group´s reputation in the DACH region by developing strong relationships with media outlets as well as anticipating and managing issues and crisis. Furthermore, you will support our Public Affairs team in shaping public policy and advocating for our company's interests in the Austrian market. You will report directly to our Head of Media Relations & Reputation Management DACH.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted spokesperson for our company in all DACH markets, effectively communicating our key messages and ensuring consistent messaging across all media interactions 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage - always in close cooperation with our market teams and our divisions/brands 
  • Manage media enquiries and releases across the business; provide media reports and insights for internal stakeholders; write press releases, articles, speeches, and other communication materials; draft media briefs   
  • Bring the L’Oréal Group corporate message house to life in the DACH region, by capitalizing global content and maximizing external speaking opportunities for the CEO and Leadership Team members; also accompany our spokespersons to public speakings
  • Collaborate with our internal teams to ensure external communication aligns with company goals and value; act as a highly valued liaison for our respective teams in Paris 
  • Manage projects
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, news, and developments to identify potential media opportunities 
  • Protect & secure the Group’s reputation by preventing risk and managing issues & crisis; support in the organization and implementation of internal upskilling trainings
     
     

Your profile

  • University master’s degree in communications, economics, politics, or similar education. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a corporate or agency setting
  • Strong experience in dealing with media representatives and other stakeholders, with a proven track record of securing positive media coverage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and deliver them effectively to various audiences
  • Experience in crisis communication and issues management is a clear plus
  • Outstanding cooperation and teamwork attitude and skills, high service orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and a high level of empathy
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (business fluent in English and German, both spoken and written)
