About the role
As our Head of Data, you will focus on designing, developing, and managing a scalable Data Platform essential for our company’s growth, product development, and operational effectiveness. This is a rare opportunity to build a modern Data Platform from scratch and scale it up. You will also lead our data privacy, governance and compliance efforts, safeguarding both our users' and company's data integrity. Your role will involve collaborating with various departments, such as Product, Marketing, or Finance, understanding their data needs and translating them into a robust architecture that enables them to strive. You will be leading and nurturing a team of data engineers to achieve these goals.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and continuously improve the company’s data platform, including data ingestion, pipelines, modeling, quality, security, and master data management.
- Establish and enforce data management controls, governance, and access management protocols.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy, addressing legal and compliance aspects.
- Lead and mentor a team data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Empower non-technical departments, such as Marketing, Finance, and Commercial, with the tools and autonomy to fulfill their data requirements.
- Drive hands-on technical leadership while managing agile processes, strategy development, operations, models, and stakeholder relationships.
- Continually evaluate and integrate new data management technologies and practices.
Who you are
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role managing a data engineering team.
- Direct experience with data privacy, governance and legislaIon.
- Proven experience in designing modern data platforms from the ground up or a strong track record of building ETL pipelines, data lakes, and/or data warehouses from scratch.
- Experience with data platform tooling like Fivetran, Snowflake, DBT, or similar.
- Comprehensive understanding of data platform architecture, data modeling, database optimization, and data management practices.
- Familiarity with cloud data solutions such as Azure, Snowflake, data lake technologies, data visualization, and ETL/data integrations.
- A strong foundation in Agile Software Development principles and methodologies.
