Job Summary:

To support new product launches, capital project implementation, overall equipment efficiency (OEE) improvements, and production and processing activities through identifying tooling solutions and performing in-house fabrication of tooling while maintaining a culture of safety, and being consumer-centric regarding the quality of finished goods.


Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Build automation tooling, and prototypes using conventional and computer numerical controlled (CNC) metal-cutting and forming machines, 3D Printing, and equipment including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, die presses, machinist hand tools and precision measuring devices
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings of tooling and product, including Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) callouts, to build tooling to specification and/or properly annotate changes to tooling
  • Work independently to create and implement tooling solutions for production equipment when engineering design resources are not available
  • Troubleshoot and identify root cause of non-conformances caused by tooling
  • Identify cost savings opportunities via existing Fabrication Lab resources
  • Identify and recommend cost savings and speed-to-market opportunities through increased Fabrication Lab equipment or technological improvements
  • Working with Fabrication Lab staff, effectively manage throughput of tooling request
  • Assist in the establishment of preventative maintenance documentation and critical spare parts list for new capital equipment
  • Maintain clear communication with technical management, of tooling and project status
  • Maintain a clean work area, clean equipment and perform other custodial responsibilities as required

Required Experience/Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of formal Tool & Die Certified training program or three (3) years on-the-job training working as a tool and die maker or CNC operator
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment involving high speed automation

Working Conditions:


  • Work flexible shifts/hours, as well as overtime, as needed
  • Employees working around machinery that exceed OSHA’s noise level are provided with and are required to wear personal hearing protection devices in these areas
  • Employees required to operate a forklift must successfully complete forklift operator training
  • Employees required to work in confined spaces must successfully complete confined space training
  • All employees working on machinery are provided with and required to wear safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and safety gloves; may be required to wear 100% cotton uniforms
  • All employees are properly trained in use of adjunct lifting/moving equipment and proper body mechanics.

Technical / Professional:


  • Ability to pass confined space certification and/or forklift certification
