Job Summary: 

As the AVP of Physical Flows you will lead all warehousing/flows operations, ensuring effective utilization of warehouse areas and observing proper loading, unloading, stocking and safekeeping of items to maintain the quality of components, raw materials and finished goods in order to prevent damage and avoid occurrences of pilferage, accidents and occupational hazards.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Be an active participant on the plant leadership team and help set site and zone vision, strategies and goals across multiple disciplines. 
  • Oversees all activities related to product, component and raw material receiving, replenishment to the production floor, order selection, order loading, and distribution of finished goods to the DC. 
  • Successfully defines and implements work flows, processes, procedures, job requirements, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness and in alignment with the organization’s established policies and plant objectives. 
  • Oversees the physical installations and equipment related to physical movements, including fork lifts, racks and docks, and designs warehouse operations to ensure efficiency of flows and safety of movement. 
  • Manages world class inventory accuracy by using cycle counting techniques, including investigation and taking preventative actions to improve accuracy so that inventories are accurately reflected in the system. Responsible for the overall execution of a complete and accurate physical inventory. 
  • Drives warehouse operations systems by analyzing process work flows, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, implementing changes for continuous improvement. 
  • Strategically plans and manages logistics, warehouse and transportation services. 
  • Analyzes quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency. Seeks cost reduction measures to meet/exceed financial targets and assists with the implementation of changes within inbound and outbound warehouse operations. 
  • Defines best practices in physical flows training, inventory control, safety and quality. 
  • Innovates and generates best practices and shares across the zone. 
  • Manages cross-zone and/or cross-functional projects, influencing and coordinating with other teams. 
  • Trains and provides leadership to managers/directors at other plants or in other functions. 
  • Demonstrates a high-level of professional maturity and competencies:  Vision, Ambition, Cooperation, Leadership, and Judgment. 
  • Builds skills in others, mentors, influences and is a sought-after advisor of peers and teams. 
  • Drafts and manages the departmental budget.

  • Drives performance through organizational assessment, structuring, and resource management and development.  

Required Experience/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline required, MS preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in the area of warehousing, production and/or supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with an inventory management system required.

Technical / Professional

  • Strong warehouse background with a good understanding of safety and environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering strong results in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Act with a strong sense of urgency while driving the necessary rigor throughout the team to mitigate business risks.
  • Highly effective collaboration skills and demonstrated capability in driving and influencing internal and external functional partners.
  • Knowledge in applying continuous improvement techniques and analytical tools to achieve improved business results such as lean and six sigma (preferred, but not required).
  • Computer skills, to include experience with spreadsheets, presentations, graphics software and database management.
  • Good working knowledge of Financial P&L.
