Job Summary:

The Training Specialist is responsible for contributing to the improvement of productivity of the workforce. This position is responsible for effective development, continuous improvement, coordination, and execution of on-the-job (OTJ) training and education initiatives for production employees. The Training Specialist works directly with production employees who need training and training mentors for coaching and development.  The Training Specialist is responsible to ensure employee competency to L’Oréal’s Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) and Performance standards.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School graduate
  • 5+ years manufacturing experience
  • Previous on the job (OTJ) training experience
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in EtQ preferred
  • Video creation skills or willingness to learn  
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support OTJ training for the production employees including:
    • SHEQ & Performance Competency Training – Level 1
      • Coach and develop training mentors
      • Create and update training content and supporting procedures as needed
      • Certify competency as needed
    • SHEQ Competency Training – Level 2 & Technical Competency Training – Level 3
      • Provide one on one or classroom training directly to employees
      • Coach and develop training mentors
      • Create and update training content and supporting procedures as needed
      • Certify competency as needed
  • Ensure SHEQ and Performance standards are maintained through the training
  • Assess performance gaps and partner with key stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to develop and execute sustainable training initiatives to close the gaps for both L’Oréal and Temporary employees
  • Coordinate and schedule training as needed
  • Ensure tracking and documentation control of training records, procedures, and forms
  • Perform generalist activities: Some examples include- employee events, investigations, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Machinery may produce noise levels that exceed OSHA’s actions level: employees are provided with and are required to wear personal hearing protection devices in these areas.
  • Raw materials and cleaning products may produce potential respiratory hazards; employees are provided with and may/must wear particulate respirators or other respirators when appropriate.
  • Moving machinery, such as forklifts: employees required to operate a forklift must successfully complete forklift operator training.
  • All operators and mechanics are provided with and required to wear safety glasses, hair nets, uniform smocks, steel-toed shoes and gloves (depending on specific department requirements.).
  • All employees are properly trained in use of adjunct lifting/moving equipment and proper body mechanics.
  • Depending on cleaning and sanitization procedure, operators and mechanics will be trained and provided with appropriate personal equipment (i.e., respirator, dust mask, gloves, face shield and/or apron).
