Job Summary:

The role of Director, Retail Media will take on a primary role in the oversight and management of key strategic initiatives related to retailer media, data sharing agreements, data activation, and measurement of the same.  This individual will develop and guide all aspects of the L’Oréal Luxe Retailer media strategy.  They will be responsible for the strategy behind the placement of all advertisements and ensuring that all media efforts work toward each brand’s overall goals and objectives.  This individual will work with various agencies and internal marketing teams to manage, develop and implement media programs to maximize brand image or sales of specific product lines. They will use data-driven insights and strategies to justify and explain media spending choices with the VPs of Marketing, as well as represent L’Oréal Luxe to our key Retailer media partners.

This role drives collaboration and influences multiple levels of leadership to execute on the following key deliverables:

  • Develop Retailer Media investment guidelines for the division to ensure we are properly funded to achieve sales goals.
  • Monitor the full ecosystem to strategically identify new media pilot opportunities, with support from CDMO team.
  • Internally upskill & educate marketing and sales teams on the fundamentals of media planning and advise on briefings and media strategy to aid the group
  • Partner with retailer marketing and media teams to design campaigns (tactics, targeting, etc.), evaluate performance and align on optimizations based on data.
  • Create business cases for investment and growth opportunities at retailer level.
  • Create media activations around new digital services at a given retailer.
  • Partner with Acceleration Directors to brainstorm new media pilot opportunities as retailers evolve to be media outlets.

This individual will collaborate with these stakeholders to drive data driven programs and initiatives. They will work to support strategic brand objectives, launches, and activities; responsible for increasing consumer touchpoints, market share, discoverability & media performance.

Job Requirements:

  • College Degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in media role
  • Must demonstrate ability to defend media choices both analytically and critically taking all business objectives and marketing goals into consideration
  • Must possess ability to persuade and manage at varying levels of the organization
  • Ability to defend and articulate joint media relationships with retailers and clearly communicate to the sales teams, so that they may relay accurate information
  • Experience working on enterprise strategies with multiple brand or business unit stakeholders, either in data partnerships or through a transferrable experience.
  • A working knowledge of all media channels and the prowess to remain diligent on market trends and marketplace conditions
  • Interpersonal savvy especially when dealing with external media partners. An understanding of company/brand objectives that are articulately conveyed to vendors
  • Past experience creating transformational strategies that go against the status quo
  • Ability to understand and translate brand and campaign objectives as well as budget limitations into a data strategy
  • Demonstrated understanding of strategic planning and program implementation
  • Demonstrated understanding of partnership development strategies and standard of practice development
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully cross functionally and create clarity within an emerging capability that touches multiple teams

This role will require a balance of analytical thinking, strong application skills of ideas to develop consumer knowledge and insight and to act on the data in collaboration with internal brand & external account partners. We are looking for a change agent that can naturally connect dots across the organization to capture strong results for the brand.  This role requires constant interaction across a matrixed business structure (Marketing, Ecommerce, GM, CMO) to coordinate work and deliver objectives.  As a result, this individual must effectively build networks and become the in-house expert on the brand’s consumer mindset to help influence, convince, and introduce new ways of marketing.  We are looking for a dynamic, creative leader and self-starter to build a vision for the brand.  This position will require moderate supervision to maintain a proper corporate direction.
