Title: Assistant Vice President, Head of US Program Management, L’Oreal Tech Incubator

MAJOR FUNCTION

The L’Oréal Tech Incubator is looking for the head of the US Program Management team ready to lead and elevate an highly visible cross-expertise team of project managers driving tech projects alongside the engineering group. Organizing and leading the team to successful consumer products launches on time, that meets our quality standards, and with the right consumer experience will be your day-to-day responsibilities. At the intersection of a strategic go-getter and a humble people manager, we are looking for the next talent who will bring our team to the next level. A significative experience in launching consumer product is required for this position.

 

Few words about the team:

Our mission is to revolutionize beauty through technology by delivering to market new consumer products that combine state-of-the-art cosmetic formula, software, and hardware. For example, our global team has launched Skinceuticals Custom D.O.S.E, YSL Rouge Sur Mesure, among others and recently announced Colorsonic at CES 2022.

 

This position requires occasional domestic and international travel (~10%)

 

Specific job responsibilities include:

Create and deploy ‘our’ tech product development frame and culture

  • Own end-to-end product development cycle to market launch with the team
  • Translate business visions into product definition. Challenge and propose alternatives and come up with creative solution to fulfill marketing vision.
  • Be driven by passion for consumer experience at the core
  • Pay attention to product detail and quality
  • Able to synthesize highly complex problems with multiple variables down to simple solutions and concrete action items
  • Frame projects across the organization and setup the right transversal team and routine for success
  • Drive adherence to program processes, procedures, methods, and standards for program delivery and leverage across different programs
  • Manage the identification of risks that impact program delivery and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed
  • Work efficiently with external partners
  • Collaborate with project managers to optimize product costs and margin for compelling business plan
  • Have comprehensive understanding of technical and programmatic aspects of the project
  • Make decision based on data and propose options to the team and top management
  • Be comfortable with and find clarity within uncertainties, pivots in directions and disruptive change requests that may require actions with quick response time
  • Source, collaborate with key external partner engineering, manufacturer, labs
  • Manage the communication of status, risk disposition to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly and adapt the content to relevant audience, escalate smartly to get things done

Lead projects portfolio for launch and manage project manager team

  • Work hand-in-hand with the head of the US team for strategy and tactics
  • Together with the US hub leader, prepare for project reviews at internal steering committees, management, and other stakeholder meetings
  • Set a good example for the team with exemplary work ethics, creative thinking abilities, and proactiveness
  • Provide the team with managerial and operational support
  • Ensure timing and quality of all responsible programs
  • Establish and track budget of the overall project portfolio
  • Organize project review, reporting, and gates

Mentor, coach, and develop project managers towards their personal career goals

  • Foster ongoing strategic relationships with cross functional teams and different brands marketing
  • Collaborate with the larger organization to align method, deliverables, and good practices for managing programs
  • Encourage and enable IP creation on key areas
  • Setup and execute successful organization, documentation, and transfer of projects after launch to Operations
  • Represent the team at internal and external events

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in successfully launching to market several consumer products required; consumer tech products with software/ component preferred
  • 3+ years of managerial experience leading a team of at least 3 direct reports is required
  • Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree or above in engineering, design, management or other relevant fields preferred
  • Authorization to work in the United States on an full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future is required
  • Thorough technical understanding and base knowledge to influence project decisions
  • Obsessed with product and end-to-end consumer experience
  • Strategic doer, comfortable to make effective trade off and prioritization
  • Can execute and find opportunities to innovate in ambiguous and changing environments and demonstrates both a flexible and resilient approach
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with process-oriented execution with highly focused attention to details
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure and manage large scale, complex projects
