Job Title: Adv. Research Scientist (Tech Intelligence) – Korea Innovation Center(KIC R&I)
[WHO WE ARE]
The Korea Advanced Research team is responsible for coordinating various projects between Korean partners with the global L’Oréal teams to support different research topics within the scope of skin, hair, and scalp. Within this broad domain, the team is involved in multi-disciplinary research across various fields including green chemistry to medical-inspired biotechnology.
The goal of Korea Advanced Research is to detect innovative technologies for the development of novel cosmetic, dermatology, and related services, and to select state-of-the-art partners for the eventual transformation of said technologies to products.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate to join our team. Our team operate with utmost agility and adaptability to foster collaboration and idea exchange, expediting the identification, scouting, and transformation of pioneering technologies into tangible products.
[KEY RESPONSIBILITIES]
- Technology & Trend Identification: Proactively identify and verify emerging technologies (e.g., biotechnology, materials science, digital health) and key trends in the cosmetic and personal care industry, focusing on potential applications and innovations.
- Korean Ecosystem Monitoring: Track technology advancements, funding activities and patent/publication landscapes within Korean research institutions, universities, and start-ups to identify potential partners and opportunities.
- Medical Insight Integration: Leverage medical advancements and research to identify opportunities for developing innovative and effective cosmetic solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams to contribute to project delivery and idea generation.
[QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS]
- Master’s degree in a scientific field such as Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Material Science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in technology scouting, competitive intelligence, technology consulting, or a related field
- Proficiency in using online databases, search engines, and government resources for patent, scientific publication and policy research
- Strong understanding of the cosmetics and personal care industry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in Korea and English is essential
