What will you do? 

Reporting to the CMI Director, the Consumer & Shopper Insights Manager will play a key role in driving consumer-centric decision-making by uncovering actionable insights that fuel the growth of our brands. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of consumer behavior, expertise in market research methodologies, and the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives.

This role will act as a business partner by navigating through market dynamics and identifying key consumer as well as shopper trends.

This position will be based in L’Oréal Malaysia head office in Petaling Jaya, practicing a hybrid working model.


You are expected to manage the following:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our consumers, shoppers, and market trends within the beauty tech category.
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources (e.g., Nielsen RMS (Retail Measurement Service), KWP (Kantar World Panel), BHT (Brand Health Tracking), sales data, social listening) to identify key insights, trends, and opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations and reports that effectively communicate insights and recommendations to key stakeholders across different levels and functions.
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams including Marketing, Commercial and Digital teams to integrate consumer insights into brand strategy and marketing campaigns as well as external agencies to deliver results.
  • Design, execute, and analyze primary and secondary consumer research studies and deep dives to address key business questions related to business challenges and opportunities.
  • Proactively monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging research methodologies to stay ahead of the curve.


Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience. Prior client and market research agency experience would be an added advantage.
  • Passion for the beauty industry and a deep understanding of consumer behavior.
  • Tools: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Power BI, NielsenDiscover, KWP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Possess good visualization and compelling data storytelling capabilities.
  • Present and communicate sharp, clear, strong messages, directly useful for top management to make decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and is self-sufficient as well as resilient when working independently with guidance from CMI Director.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, and persuasive in their manner, the job holder will be practical and methodical in their approach to problem solving.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and excellence within the CMI team.
  • Cooperate with internal and external cross functional stakeholders using collaborative & agile tools and project modes.
