Key responsibilities 

 

The Sourcing Category Lead is a key role within the Sourcing team, responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing plans across assigned categories. This position requires a deep understanding of market trends, supplier relationships, cost optimization strategies, and a strong commitment to integrating sustainability into every aspect of the sourcing process. The successful candidate will align business objectives with sustainable practices to ensure long-term value creation.

 

1. Category Planning and Strategy:

•           Develop and maintain comprehensive category profiles and strategies aligned with business objectives.

•           Conduct Spend analysis and market intelligence to inform sourcing decisions.

•           Identify external market trends and benchmarks to assess performance.

•           Sustainability Integration: Ensure that sustainability considerations are fully integrated into category strategies, focusing on environmental impact, social responsibility, and ethical sourcing practices.

 

2. Supplier Management:

•           Monitor supplier performance and assist new suppliers in becoming part of future bid lists.

•           Foster strategic relationships with suppliers to drive innovation and collaboration.

•           Ensure business continuity plans are in place for critical categories.

•           Sustainable Supply Chain: Work with suppliers to implement sustainable practices, monitor their environmental and social performance, and support continuous improvement.

 

3. Sourcing and Negotiation:

•           Lead negotiations to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership while mitigating risks and ensuring sustainable practices.

•           Conduct Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and manage contract negotiations, incorporating sustainability criteria.

•           Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and international sustainability standards.

 

4. Cost Optimization and Innovation:

•           Identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost avoidance projects that align with sustainability goals.

•           Present analysis-driven insights to stakeholders and drive project execution.

•           Collaborate with suppliers to identify innovation opportunities that enhance sustainability.

 

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

•           Work closely with business units, finance, legal, and quality assurance teams to ensure alignment with corporate sustainability objectives.

•           Communicate effectively with senior leadership on category strategies and outcomes, highlighting sustainability achievements.

 

6. Market Intelligence and Risk Management:

•           Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to sustainability.

•           Assess and communicate risks related to category sourcing, including environmental and social risks.

 

Professional &Technical Competencies 

 

  • Extensive experience in sourcing/procurement or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Bilingual (FR/EN)
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with strategic sourcing methodologies, market analysis tools, and sustainability standards.
  • Strong understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors and their integration into business strategies.
