Shu Uemura is seeking an International Social & Community Manager to build its digital transformation platform, with a concentration on building new communication strategy and approach. The role will be based in Tokyo and report to the International Communication Director.


This roll requires She/he to listen to consumers and market from various channels. She/he will lead the development of the content strategy and calendar. She/he will lead the countries to build, activate and engage the community cross various social platforms. And finally she/he will monitor social performance, gain and share insights, and eventually set up achievable KPIs for DMI & countries.


Essential duties and responsibilities

Social media strategy: actively participate in the elaboration of the shu uemura global social media strategy together with Digital Marketing Manager.

Identify social tribes:

                 *Identify trends/opportunities and share with relevant stakeholders

                 *Identify influencers and share relevant information/action points with relevant stakeholders.

                 *Champion DMI’ social listening tool roll-out and ensure smooth adoption of tool by users.

International community animation: identify key social media stakeholders within brand at all levels, build community and systems according to which the community will share information/insights.

Instagram Account Manager:

                 *Reply to customer inquiries within no more than 24 hours.

                 *Involve brand in relevant conversations.

                 *Deliver artist-on packages on a monthly basis to countries with corresponding usage manual(s).

                 *Monitor account KPIs and share relevant insights with relevant stakeholders.

Audit of local social media platforms:

                 *Watch countries’ social media activities and share audit on a regular basis with relevant stakeholders.

                 *Via zone, ensure feedback is also cascaded down to countries.

Audit of shu uemura artis community on social media:

                 *Watch internal artists’ social media activities and share audit with relevant stakeholders

                 *Share best practices with Artist Relations Manager


Other things:

Constantly be aware of digital and social media trends to react and inject into our own accounts when relevant

Always seek to improve the way we handle our social media arsenal by implementing new systems/software when necessary

Share and introduce new/inspirational ideas from outside

Educate all DMI members on latest digital trends and assets – Follow-up closely on budget and financial procedures




Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, or equivalent e-Commerce experience.

Experience working in FMCG marketing or communication. Experience in beauty industry is a plus

Good understanding of digital ecosystem.

Good understanding of China-specific or Southeast Asia social landscape (i.e. Weibo, WeChat, Red, Douying, FB, INS, Youtube, twitter, Line, Kaoko).

Good understanding of best practices of marketplaces storefronts and ecommerce (i.e. TMall, Lazada, shopping festivals...) is a plus

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Able to manage complexity within a complex International environment.
