The Head of
Finance plays central and critical role in these brand leadership teams.
Working in close partnership with the General Manager and Divisional FD, you
are fully accountable for the total P&L of your business unit.
Starting each year with the build of an ambitious budget alongside the brand
leadership team, your specialist knowledge and advice is key to maximising
brand growth and control costs. You will then lead a small but perfectly formed
team to manage the financial
aspects of the brand’s plans, budgets and forecasts throughout the year.
With a focus on strategic review of performance, you play an important role in
the identification of key opportunities and risks throughout the year. These

YOU WILL...
Be responsible for providing a full
financial service to a L'Oréal Brand Business Unit (BU), managing the financial
aspects of the brand’s plans, budgets and trends and liaising with the
different brand functions and corporate departments. The Head of Finance will
act as a key business leader to support the brand General Manager and will be a
key stakeholder in the brand’s management committee. The following are a
identified list of requirements for this role:
•Develop the BU’s brand portfolio
and image, turnover and profitability in the UK & Ireland market.
•Develop strong partnership with the
brand’s General Manager, anticipating any risks and providing advice and
analysis on all finance related issues that contribute to the sustainable
development of the brand
•Implement the international brands
strategies in the UKI, determining and implementing necessary local adjustments
in close liaison with the international brand teams
•Increase brands’ market share and
sales growth
•Manage and take accountability for
the BU’s P&L: define, optimise and monitor budget objectives
(profitability, stocks, inventory, structure of P&L account)
•Define, implement and monitor
marketing activity (launches, renovations, repositioning of products, media,
competitor analysis and field activities)
•Define, implement and monitor
distribution strategy, building strong relationships with the trade
•Build and continuously adapt an
effective and efficient organisation
•Lead, motivate & develop a team
of finance individuals, providing regular support and development
•With the support of the Marketing
Controller and the Sales Controller, drive the brand to the achievement of the
financial results agreed in the Budget
•Manage the sell-in forecasts and
results with the Sales Director and Demand Planner
•Evaluate the media investment and
the sell-out performance with the Marketing Director
•Ensure respect of UK and Group
standards with regard to legislation and group best practice
YOU HAVE...
- An experienced fully
qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA)
- Previous relevant
experience working within a strategic role in the FMCG sector or similar
- Strong interpersonal
skills are essential as the role involves partnership and close liaison
with key senior stakeholders
- Strategic thinking and
planning skills – able to develop strategic business plans and ensure
successful implementation
- Entrepreneurial – able
to identify business development opportunities
- Strong leadership,
communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding rigour and
attention to detail
- Highly organised with
prioritisation skills and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Highly numerate – strong
analytically and strong commercial acumen
- Strong
presentation/communication skills with the ability to confidently
influence, persuade and inspire
- Ability to work in an
ever changing & demanding environment
- Flexibility for an
international career is desired but not essential
