Revolutionize Beauty Formulation with AI: Join L'Oréal as a Data Scientist

Are you a passionate Data Scientist eager to push the boundaries of beauty innovation? At L'Oréal, we're leveraging the power of data and AI to transform how we develop groundbreaking cosmetic formulations. We're seeking a talented and driven Data Scientist to join our dynamic Data & Analytics team in Paris, partnering with our world-class formulation labs to unlock new possibilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Pioneer Predictive Formulations: Design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and other AI algorithms to predict the performance, stability, and key properties of cosmetic formulations (sensory attributes, ingredient optimization, etc.).
  • Uncover Insights from Data: Dive deep into large datasets (formulation composition, experimental results, scientific publications) to identify hidden trends, patterns, and actionable insights that will drive our next generation of products.
  • Bridge the Gap Between Data and Science: Collaborate closely with formulation scientists, data science experts, and cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate data-driven approaches into formulation development workflows. Become a key translator, turning complex data needs into impactful analytical solutions.
  • Harness the Power of LLMs: Explore and implement innovative solutions leveraging the latest advancements in Language Models (LLMs) to analyze textual and scientific data, extracting key information, generating novel formulation ideas, and staying at the forefront of scientific discovery.
  • Build Robust Data Pipelines: Develop and maintain automated and robust data pipelines to ensure data quality and efficiency for model training and validation.
  • Share Your Discoveries: Communicate your findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences through compelling presentations, reports, visualizations, and interactive dashboards.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Maintain a keen awareness of the latest advancements in Data Science and AI, particularly in the field of LLMs. Share your knowledge and mentor fellow Data Scientists in the exciting realm of generative AI.

What You'll Bring:

  • Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and deploying Machine Learning and Deep Learning models in real-world applications.
  • Solid expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Language Models (LLMs).
  • Proficiency in Python and R, with hands-on experience using key Data Science libraries (PyTorch, Spark, Hugging Face, etc.).
  • Experience managing databases (SQL and NoSQL) and creating impactful data visualizations (Power BI, Dash, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for innovation and a genuine desire to revolutionize formulation science through data-driven approaches.
  • A strong interest in the beauty and cosmetics industry.
  • Self-motivated, rigorous, and proactive approach to problem-solving.

Bonus Points:

  • Publications in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Experience developing web applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.).
