The Global Public Affairs Policy Director – Environment is a role within L’Oréal's global Public Affairs function in the Corporate Affairs & Engagement structure based at L’Oréal Headquarters. This role reports into the Associate Vice President Public Policy. This person will be responsible for understanding and navigating the political reality and technicalities of environmental policy at global level and in key strategic markets. He/she will support the consolidation and coordination of L’Oréal’s global Public Affairs roadmap. 


The Global Public Affairs Policy Director - Environment:
  • Supports the coordination of the global public policy roadmap & L’Oréal’s policy initiatives with a focus on Environmental and Social Governance - ESG and Sustainability - including climate & finance. 
  • Works closely with the Global PA team, but also with the Group’s divisions and functions to strategically develop, pursue and execute policy objectives for the organization.
Specific areas of responsibility:
  • Horizon scanning and monitoring of relevant policy developments with a focus on environmental and sustainability matters, changes in legislation or political topics and public policy events to provide insights and business impact analysis.
  • Assisting in coordinating various submissions and consultation responses 
  • Supporting the advocacy and engagement strategy and execution in global forums and key markets. 
  • Acting as the point of reference on public policy environmental topics for L’Oréal centrally and locally.
  • Co-designing stakeholder engagement programs, including identifying and building relationships with policymakers and legislators and trade & industry bodies.
  • Producing accessible and effective written briefings and other documents on complex topics for internal and external audiences.
  • Representing L’Oréal at external meetings with political, public affairs and industry stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying public affairs opportunities to engage with external stakeholders.
  • Supporting Communications actions working with colleagues in other relevant business units.
  • Supporting research and publications on policy development for L’Oréal either as a sole author or part of a broader team.


  • 10-15+ years of experience in government relations and public affairs either in-house, within consultancies or trade/industry bodies.
  • Strong academic background – Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Environmental Science, Economics, Political Science, International Relations (or related discipline).
  • Robust experience dealing with environmental related policies in various markets.
  • Fluent in English and French
